Members Hildebrand Posted June 11, 2019 Members Report Posted June 11, 2019 I recently received a slot punch but it is not anywhere near sharp. What do you guys use to sharpen punches like this? It seems to have a good bevel in place. ‘Thank you. Todd Quote
Members zuludog Posted June 11, 2019 Members Report Posted June 11, 2019 Have a look at this video by Ian Atkinson -- 'Renovating a Vintage Vergez Blanchard Crew (Oblong) Punch' He uses a diamond plate, but any sharpening stone - oil, water/ceramic, or diamond would do the job, or just wet & dry paper on a sheet of glass or a ceramic tile Quote
Contributing Member fredk Posted June 11, 2019 Contributing Member Report Posted June 11, 2019 I used two needle files on the inside, one round rat-tail for the ends and a flat for the sides. I only gave the insides a bit of a wipe with them after I went round the outside with a flat diamond plate and some fine whetstones. The files were wiped over the inside lightly to remove any burr raised Quote
