Contributing Member JLSleather Posted June 28, 2019 Contributing Member Report Posted June 28, 2019 Curved panel holster for the Bond Arms Bullpup 9, by request in chocolate brown and brown elephant hide. Dark brown nylon thread a la CowboyBob (link below). Quote
garypl Posted June 28, 2019 Report Posted June 28, 2019 That’s a nice looking holster Jeff! Is elephant hide much more difficult to work with than thick veg tan, when used for stiffener? Gary Quote
Contributing Member JLSleather Posted June 28, 2019 Author Contributing Member Report Posted June 28, 2019 Uh, yah... elephant is a bit of a pain. Knife needs to be WAY sharp to cut cleanly, or the elephant tries to flex out of the way. Great LOOK, and DURABLE stuff, but just requires a little patience to use. The veg tan cow is easy to use. Members Firewalker Posted June 28, 2019 Members Report Posted June 28, 2019 Jeff that is a dang fine looking holster. Nice work! Quote
Members Rhale Posted June 28, 2019 Members Report Posted June 28, 2019 Great looking holster! The elephant hide will outlast the gun, toughest hide I know of other than maybe shark. Quote
Contributing Member JLSleather Posted June 28, 2019 Author Contributing Member Report Posted June 28, 2019 (edited) 'Preciatecha fellas Oh, I didn't get picks of that part of it, but the back panel of this was lined with tooling leather after it was dyed. Edited June 28, 2019 by JLSleather Quote
ABHandmade Posted June 28, 2019 Report Posted June 28, 2019 Wonderful work, Jeff. It looks very cool! Quote
Contributing Member JLSleather Posted June 28, 2019 Author Contributing Member Report Posted June 28, 2019 Thanks I really like to TOOL leather too, but often holsters are made to be concealed .... Quote
Contributing Member JLSleather Posted June 28, 2019 Author Contributing Member Report Posted June 28, 2019 Hey, I 'get' it. Some folks not big on chocolate elephant. For those, may I suggest a cherry shark Quote
Members Rhale Posted June 28, 2019 Members Report Posted June 28, 2019 Beautiful, and with two of the toughest hides in existence in my opinion Quote
Contributing Member JLSleather Posted June 28, 2019 Author Contributing Member Report Posted June 28, 2019 Yup, purdy tough. Shark certainly easier to work with (and less money). Quote
Members AA3JW Posted June 28, 2019 Members Report Posted June 28, 2019 Both are really sweet looking. Quote
