Members shoeboy Posted July 7, 2019 Members Report Posted July 7, 2019 I have a Question about a singer 17-23 sewing machine Roller Foot, Ive seen some conflicting images as to the position of the roller foot, Some show it to the outside, What I would consider the normal position, But ive also seen it to the inside, facing the throat of the machine, Ive even seen pics with Both on the same machine ? the machine I have has the roller on the Inside facing the rear of the machine, with dual lower feed teeth, Just curious if this is usual and how it would be used. My Life long experience as a Shoemaker & custom leathercrafter has been mostly with 29K machines. Any info would be great. Quote

Northmount Posted July 8, 2019 Report Posted July 8, 2019 I would expect it needs to be placed over the feed dogs. Left or right. If you are trying to sew something that won't fit between the needle and the body of the machine, for stitching an edge, you will likely need to mount the roller foot on the left (outside). For double roller feet, when stitching an edge, you will need to raise the empty side roller off the feed dogs. Tom Quote
