Members PappysLeather Posted July 11, 2019 Members Report Posted July 11, 2019 There may have been post bout this and if so direct me to them. What kind of dye is best used for this? I have been practicing with antique black but not getting the results I am looking for. I may be doing it wrong also. I have embossed a train engine on a IPhone case and I am wanting it to stand out along with the veiner border I put around it. Quote
Members TSes Posted July 11, 2019 Members Report Posted July 11, 2019 Not sure what you are trying to achieve, but block dying only dies the top surface of the leather, leaving the stamped or carved work un-dyed. Antiquing does just the opposite, by filling in the stamping/carving work. Block dying is done with a not too soft sponge, and a light touch so it slides across the surface. Antiquing is done with a dauber, or sheep's wool, or a soft cloth so you can work it down into the cuts. Hope this helps. Quote
