Miquel Report post Posted September 26, 2019 Hi dudes, I have a new machine, It is a 45K clon, made in Spain. The machines goes well but I don't like the stitch. I would like to make it more straight. I am adjunting tensions, but I can achieve better than the stitches that show bellow photos. I am using 2,5 to 3 mm thickness leather. The needle is 160 sizes ( I put a photo) , I am using Gutermann tera 10 thread. Any suggestions for improve the stitch? I would like to be more straight, Thanks in advance. Constabulary Report post Posted September 26, 2019 (edited) That is because of the LR tip needles. I would use S or D tip needle for a straight seam. Check this website: https://www.schmetz.com/en/industrial-needles/needle-compass/cutting-points/ Or check this PDF brochure: GrozBeckertCuttingPointsBrochure.pdf Edited September 26, 2019 by Constabulary
Miquel Report post Posted September 27, 2019 Hi Constabulary, thanks for your reply. It seem so difficult to find where buy the S or R needle point. Constabulary Report post Posted September 27, 2019 D or S tip needles are indeed hard to find in system 328 / 214x2. Unfortunately I have no source. I would check with SCHMETZ or GROZ BECKERT customer service maybe they can help you. R tip needles you can buy from College Sewing in the UK. https://www.college-sewing.co.uk/needles/groz-beckert-industrial-needles/214x1-groz-beckert-needles maybe they have other odds and ends you could use like bobbins, thread nips, screw drivers, needle threader.... I always order thinks like that.
Matt S Report post Posted September 27, 2019 College Sewing has a few sizes of Schmetz TRI point needles in class 214x2, including nm160. Not tried TRI points myself but according to Schmetz they produce a straight seam. https://www.college-sewing.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=214x2
