Members Constabulary Posted November 4, 2019 Members Report Posted November 4, 2019 (edited) Looks like a CS-38 signal corps pouch. I think what you are looking for are LIFT THE DOT Fastener. Check with DOT Fastener https://www.dotfasteners.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=lift+the+dot&wfc_applications=952 Edited November 4, 2019 by Constabulary Quote
Members kwai Posted November 4, 2019 Author Members Report Posted November 4, 2019 thanks, I was just about to update this thread, I found 'lift the dot' fasteners on sailrite, but they are all a polished nickel, and also I am not sure on specs of max thickness of material. I don't think they will do 10 oz of leather from looking at them. I think the ones in the photo also have a feature 'double height', so will try contact DOT and see if they have some. Quote

Members Constabulary Posted November 4, 2019 Members Report Posted November 4, 2019 (edited) What you have shown in your picture is a regular LTD fastener (I have some CS-38 pouches here so I can compare with other LTD fasteners from webbing equipment F.i.) maybe the female part has 4 longer prongs (the ones you crimp when you set the washer on the opposite side) because of the thicker leather. But the male part on the CS-38 is the standard length you also find on shovel covers or M1 carbine webbing slings and the like. If you are looking for a longer "male part" (sounds weird ) check this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/WWII-LIFT-A-DOT-Extra-Long-Stud-and-Ring-lot-of-72-pcs-equals-36-sets-E599/121128759337 Not sure if DOT still stocks them Edited November 4, 2019 by Constabulary Quote

DOT told me they do not manufacture anymore, they only make in polished stainless (boat) and black steel (police), and the new ones seem to be very heavily branded/stamped all over, instantly turning your work into a 'lift the dot' branded gear. Basically what I am looking for is a replica of the original US WWII Brass Lift the Dot, extra long teeth and extra long stud, or possibly standard teeth, I'm waiting on samples or the gov't black to see if standard sized teeth can be used on 1/8" thick leather. Hard to find... Quote
