Members GnewVFL Posted December 27, 2019 Members Report Posted December 27, 2019 Ive been wanting to make a belt for a while. Please critique. Thanks Quote
wizard of tragacanth Posted December 27, 2019 Report Posted December 27, 2019 Hmmm, well...off-hand, there is one thing that I can see that could be improved. One flower is mostly hiding behind the buckle and I am guessing that another flower, by the keeper, is hiding behind the tip of the belt. Next time, think ahead on placement of your design so this doesn't happen. The other thing that I notice is that there is a Glock on the table and a 1911 in your holster. Hehehe... nick Quote
Members Vikefan Posted December 28, 2019 Members Report Posted December 28, 2019 Nice belt... My recommendation would be to skive down the backside of your belt Buckle end so tapers down in leather thickness, instead of being thick leather on the back. I also prefer large snaps or possibly Chicago Screws, so you and change out buckles if so inclined. Vikefan Quote
Members Halitech Posted December 28, 2019 Members Report Posted December 28, 2019 Personally, I always try to avoid stitching across when I do stitch the buckle one. Some will say it doesn't matter, some swear that it does weaken the leather. And like most, I use snaps or Chicago screws so that when the buckle breaks, you can swap it out for a new one. Second, and this is personal preference, but I always do an border 3/16" from the edge. I find it gives a more finished look than tooling right to the edge. Quote
Members seagiant Posted April 3, 2020 Members Report Posted April 3, 2020 Hi, Well...1911's are like Glocks, except for men! If that is your first belt you are on your way. I also sew my buckles, but as was stated, sewing across, weakens the belt! Just sew down the sides. We are all learning, just some off us have been learning longer!!! Quote
