DeeDesign Report post Posted May 27, 2020 Can I adjust the speed or pressure of the foot pedal on my Singer 16-188? It goes from nothing to full speed ahead and there isn't a middle ground. If anyone has a suggestion on how to adjust it, I would greatly appreciate it.
Norton Custom Leather Report post Posted May 30, 2020 You can go to the singer web & DL the manual. If it can be slowed it should show you how
Constabulary Report post Posted May 30, 2020 (edited) You most likely have an old outdated clutch motor. I would replace it with a new servo motor and add a speed reducer. Do a forum google search like this: https://www.google.com/search?q=servo+speed+reducer+site%3Aleatherworker.net&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 lots of different solutions in terms of speed reducers. Some DIY some out of the box from sewing machine dealers... lots of options. Edited May 30, 2020 by Constabulary
Northmount Report post Posted June 1, 2020 @DeeDesign With the old clutch motors, you need to slip the clutch like you do with a car with a standard transmission. Takes practice to be able to regulate the resulting speed. For me, I would get a servo motor which is variable speed. Also I moved this to the Leather Sewing Machine area.
