Members MLGilbert Posted July 1, 2020 Members Report Posted July 1, 2020 (edited) Hi all, I wanted to learn how to braid rawhide so I did some research and some practicing and this is the first braided button that I felt turned out okay, but I need some advice.. How do y’all keep the herringbone pattern from twisting? Also, had anyone made their own skiver for lace? Edited July 1, 2020 by MLGilbert Quote
Members bucksnort Posted July 1, 2020 Members Report Posted July 1, 2020 Your knot looks good. To your question, if you even out & straighten you base knot at every pass it goes a long way to help with the twisting. So with your two bight start, even out your spacing & line up your v’s. Same with four bights ect. Even more important with long knots like nose knots. Hope this helps & keep up the good work. Quote

Members GrampaJoel Posted July 17, 2020 Members Report Posted July 17, 2020 I mark a straight line and make sure the crosses always hit the line. It keeps everything straight and on track. Your pull when even, will almost line up every time. some adjustment will occasionally be needed. Quote
