belt buckle

I just completed this belt buckle. I used Tandy block out for the hoghxlights with medium brown antique finish. What do you thinK? How could I improve it? Is ther any way I can darken some of the ares that have the block-out applied?

I really like it, and in general I do not like animal pictures. It looks great.

One improvement I would suggest is when you are lacing, lace around to the starting point and then unlace the first couple stitches, they always are at the wrong angle at the starting point. Then when you join the lacing into the starting point it will be flawless and not have the seam show so visably.

Cecil, as Electrathon said, you should undo a few laces at the beginning so that your joint between the two are cleaner. I can see by the pic that the joint of the two laces is not exact, as the one lace is actually going over, not under the next one.

As too the darkening, what I do some times, is to use an acrylic clear coat where I want to block-out. Then after I've stained or dyed, I'll wash the acrylic away, and then I can darken the area I want.
