Where do they sell rubbery edge coat that factories use?

Recommended Posts

Dear All,

I want to know which material and machine do factories use to seal and coat the leather edges with a thick rubbery coat? I don't think it is Giardini, or Fiebings or Stahl or United or any of these edge coats, because I compared those to the rubbery edge coat I have on many bags and they are not the same.......I also don't think in mass production of bags they will waste time applying 3 or 4 layers of these edge coats..... I think it is a synthetic material... It could be the one in the attached photo but I don't know what is it? BTW this material is damn good and sustainable.

Can anyone help me please.

from my experience i believe many higher end bag makers use edge paint that is either sanded between several light layers or applied heavily and smoothed with a fileteuse.

in the picture you posted it looks to me like the handle of a filteuse with a bent attachment. i dont think it is extruding anything as far as my eyes can see.

i use the many light layers of edge paint (fenis or uniters) sanded in between coats on my wallets and it holds up very well.

The high-end bag makers have a proprietary edge paint.  I hear Hermes uses something by Stahl.

I answered you in the other thread you made. You can make a nice edge with two coats of paint. I showed an example with Uniters EP-Full as a primer coat for the rounded shape, and one coat of Uniters EP-2000

A lot of manufacturers of edge paint sell those in different viscosity for different application methods.
