Members Treesner Posted January 5, 2021 Members Report Posted January 5, 2021 any done a full granite top workbench ? might have some left over from my kitchen thinking about doing my bench with it. not sure how it would hold up to pounding grommets and what not (probably still use a rubber or wood mat under it) any experience with this or should I just stick to some kind of wood top ? CFM tsunkasapa Posted January 5, 2021 CFM Report Posted January 5, 2021 I have a 24"x32" piece on top of my bench. Obviously one doesn't just move it out of the way, so I have a steel plate about 8x10 and faced with stainless to do hardware on. It spreads the force out on the marble. Quote
Members buzzardbait Posted January 5, 2021 Members Report Posted January 5, 2021 with granite the darker colors with no veining or large crystals are the strongest. the more veins and crystals= more weak points. the darker the color the more dense and strong the stone is. I have solid black granite on my bench and don't shy away from using my 4 pound maul on it. Quote
