Sarita8503 Report post Posted February 7, 2021 Images linked below. This is a CWD (French) veg tanned saddle. It has become discolored after regular use and I am looking for the best way to cover/fix this. https://ibb.co/0sLNg9R https://ibb.co/jkCfQmC
Rahere Report post Posted February 8, 2021 What climate was it used in, and how was it stored? I'm thinking fungal spots.
tsunkasapa Report post Posted February 8, 2021 Yes, looks like mildew. Try oxalic acid in an inconspicuous area. It WILL remove mildew stains but it may well remove the color as well.

jcuk Report post Posted February 8, 2021 You can just put down to use and you will always know its your saddle, time and cleaning will help out eventually, but if you want it perfect maybe the best fix is to get it reseated if you have someone nearby can do this for you. Hope this helps JCUK
Sarita8503 Report post Posted February 10, 2021 Thanks everyone. I am in central Kentucky and it was stored covered in a tack room, but the humidity got high in there. I suspect you are correct about the mildew. I purchased another saddle and want to sell this one. It sounds like my best bet will probably get it re-seated. Rahere Report post Posted February 10, 2021 Might be worth saddle-soaping everything in there, then allow to dry in the sun.
