ChrisMarquez Report post Posted April 13, 2021 Working on single panel tall uppers stove pipe in goat leather for the colors. Newly acquired 29 with 360 head for this task. Previous teeth were worn and not moving the leather. New teeth put in. Moves the leather fine now. But really sharp and scuffs the leather on the turn for zig zag pattern up the back securing the ends together. As suggested here tried 400 grit sandpaper on shaved down original foot. Paper feats too fast. 40 grit still a bit tough. Working in between towards 80, fingers crossed. Open to other ideas and suggestions. Working within a budget and what’s on hand in rural area. Thank you.
jimi Report post Posted April 13, 2021 Be careful not to wear down too much the teeth on the foot otherwise you will end up shortening the stitch length!! this is the main problem with this kind of machine, on chrome tanned leather it is less agressive. Duly noted. I might have done that. Ugh. Ok. Stitch length seems to be holding well. Thank you for the chime in.
