Members LomaeArts Posted July 26, 2021 Members Report Posted July 26, 2021 When I placed my 45k on it pedestool stand, I used an industrial M belt to drive it. over time this has twisted to run an edge inside the groove. I thought I would replace the belt with a round leather belt and souurced some 8mm ( or 5/16") belt (same as my Landis outsole stitcher) but it feels too big. Should I use 8mm or go down to 6mm ( or what ever I have on the 29k patcher)? Thanx Matthew Quote
Members Constabulary Posted July 26, 2021 Members Report Posted July 26, 2021 (edited) 45K´s sometimes have round belt groves and sometime V groves (newer machines rather have V groves) and yes considering the size of the machine the grooves seem to be quite narrow sometimes. Mine has V groves and I´m using a 10mm 10/Z belt (metric world) or X10 (toothed) belts - no problems. Yes the belts seem to bee a bit too wide but thats not really an issue. So it really depends on your machine pulley. https://www.zahnriemen24.de/a/40051-keilriemen-z-10 https://www.zahnriemen24.de/a/40059-keilriemen-x10 Alternatively on some of my machines I´m using green PU round belts with rough surface in 8mm like this: https://www.ebay.de/itm/133659334890 Edited July 26, 2021 by Constabulary Quote
Members jimi Posted July 26, 2021 Members Report Posted July 26, 2021 I have 8mm leather on the 2 45s here and they work just fine but i suppose that is all personal choice in the end. I am sure 10mm would work well also? Quote
