Members Davm Posted September 29, 2021 Members Report Posted September 29, 2021 I want to do a "dip" of a finished holster and belt. I wanted to just leave it in the natural color but now want a light to medium brown. Birchwood Casey sells a water based dye for rifle stocks- I'm wondering if I could dilute it and have a "dip" Any suggestions appreciated. Quote

Contributing Member fredk Posted September 30, 2021 Contributing Member Report Posted September 30, 2021 I've found that wood dyes are appreciably lighter on leather. Remember, a water based dye will swell your leather, which will shrink back as it dries out. This can ruin any tooling or stamping. An oil based dye might be better Quote
