Singer 180W201    1953-54

I have some research to do........  Not much out there.
Was offered 'First Refusal'
Original owner, fully functional.
Only thing I have found is a Parts Manual.  Not even listed on Ismacs.

It does appear that one major difference compared to the 51W is that the 180W is belt drive vs the 51W direct drive.

Having a difficult time associating a dollar value.

Looks like FB lead you here

The early 51w where rod driven, the later were belt driven like your. The main different between the 51w (later model) and your 180w appears to be the bed size (yours is longer), the way you change stitch lengh, maybe the tension unit and I guess you have a heavier hand wheel. But main difference as far as I can tell is the bed size and stitch length adjustment (on the 180w is seems to be the same as on the 111w flat bed machine).

IMO worth around at least 400-500 form a private seller but depends on the market.

Hi I just got the exact same machine,

its been unused for several years, the needle that was in the machine appears to be a cut down needle and the bobbin case is the one with the tiny tab thats really difficult to open to release the bobbin.

Is there any info out there on this machine,

what needle should this machine use and is it possible to change the bobbin case for one thats easy to open ?

Thanks

Hmm, I wish I knew these machines still had some value.  I have at least 2 of the 51s I've left in a shed with a bunch of other machines (Union Special/Singers) for at least a decade....Maybe I'll put them up here on the classifieds  as a you fix it up and make it work project?
