Members DrmCa Posted December 1, 2021 Members Report Posted December 1, 2021 Needing to make custom screws for my Mitsubishi. My thread gauge shows that it is 1/8-40 thread. Does anybody know if it is US60 or Whitworth thread? Members nylonRigging Posted December 2, 2021 Members Report Posted December 2, 2021 You saying .."40 TPI " . . I just checked on a Mitzu. DB on the factory tapped holes on it's bed top . I threaded-in some ( 6-40 ) and they threaded in and bottomed out holding firm . But they did feel a little tiny sloppy when I was threading them in . Cast metal Heads are kind of soft easy to drill/tap . So I cant tell if it just a sloppy Tap work at factory ? . . Or it is some proprietary Thread size/pitch, that Mitsubishi used, that is real close to 6-40 ? . Quote
Members DrmCa Posted December 2, 2021 Author Members Report Posted December 2, 2021 Thanks! 6-40 and 1/8-40 screws are virtually indistinguishable. Could be either of them. I only need to chase the threads that have some spray paint in them and to make custom thumbscrews, so need to decide which tap and die to buy.
