Thanks to the help with bobbin/Shuttle oiling.

Now to clean up more old lube.  Here is the current lube on the bevel gear lube.

The machine will get very light use.  Is a lithium white grease, ok??

The machine appears to have had very little use.  There is almost no wear on the painted surfaces.

Thanks again,

Randy

Personally I hate most pastie type greases as most like lithium white grease are dirt magnets and you typically see the mess like what you have shown in your photo. Normally I choose to oil regularly with a synthetic oil concoction on my sewing machines but on those odd occasions that I have to use a grease I still prefer to use a light coating of synthetic gear grease. I find the synthetic's give a smoother operation to gears and bearings.

+1 for synth oil. They are specially designed for retention in a thin film. If your machine is used for leather, at low speed, and infrequently, it make little to know difference what you use for lubrication and how often. 1 drop of oil once a month is enough.
