leather covered money clip??

I am wanting a leather covered money clip..  are they typically done with square magnets or is there a way cover cover a metal clip.

This is the look I was looking for..

is there a way to cover one of these?

 

or use these those square magnets..

There is way, yes. Should take lots of careful measuring and stitching and gluing, but it's definitely doable.

I would; take two pieces of thin leather and glue & sew them together along the long edges and one short edge. Slide the 'pocket' over the clip. When its on, sew up the open end, then dunk the whole thing in water and then let it dry. After it is dry, dye & finish

so, the only exposed or visible metal would be on the inside curve part?

I have that same leather clip. Love it and would like to make so more of them..

did you make it or buy it?  I am wanting to make one for myself.. Just don't have one to take apart.  I bought those square magnets at Tandy the other day, but I like the strength of the metal ones..  just trying to visualize how to cover it and make it look right.  Going with the suggestions above.. Hopefully, it won't come out a mess and waste some leather..
