Chrishocher Report post Posted February 12, 2022 Hello, I am having trouble finding needles for my Singer 138w101 which should use 135x17 needles up to a size 22. My problem is that the machine is timed to a singer 110x18 or 18 needle. Is this a huge job to retime the machine to the proper needles?

This is where the machine guys hang out and you should get some answers here soon.

So a different needle size usually does not require retiming. Needle hole in the feed dog have to be large enough for the #22 needle and make sure the hook tip is not touching the needle if it does well then the needle is too big for the machine cause you cannot move the hook further to the right AFAIK. EDIT: just realized its a double needle machine - not sure if you can move the posts sideways a little bit when the hook is touching the needle. EDIT II: you can - I just checked the manual : https://www.manualslib.com/manual/364365/Singer-138w102.html?page=11#manual Edited February 13, 2022 by Constabulary

From the information I have seen on your machine it uses 135 x 7 in sizes from #9 to #24 as noted on page 6 of the Singer manual not 135 x 17. So if you want to use 135 x 17 needles you may very well have to retime your machine. kgg

I did end up retiming the machine to accomodate the proper size needles
