Hands down Kevin, the one with the red skull. That seam is so much nicer with the folded in joint.

I have to agree with Ken and say the skull one. Are the ends skived any or is it just toooo soft to skive very thin?

You are mighty handy with your machine. I don't see any thread ends on the decorative parts. Do you pull them through to the back/inside?

Kevin, I perfer the Butt joint on the first one.

Now if you would do a little skiving on the ends it would reduce the bulk

of the binding after it is folded back..

Well, after looking at both pieces. . . it certainly seams to me that the wallet with the skull has the nicer-looking stitches -- but not by much. I think they're both great.

And actually, I kind of like the bound edges the way they are; it's sort of like a neat border around the piece. . .

I did notice one thing on both. Stitching is even on top, bottom, and right but, smaller and less even on left (as you are looking at photo). Is that perhaps lighting or camera angle?? Or, the stitches themselves. Still wish I could do close to that neat.

I think im gonna go with the butt end seam. The reason I am trying to change it is. Even though I get the overlap ends ver tight, when sliding wallet in and out of pocket seems to loosen that joint. This is lambskin and i'm not sure if it can be skived or not. I may try to do one with a topstitch next.

This is going to be hard to put into words but something i thought of the first time i saw one of your wallets and by no means am i criticizing you're work. And i'm glad you asked this cause i've been wanting to tell you this but, words typed on the internet can come off the wrong way so easy. So please don't take this the wrong way cause i really like your work , i think it refreshing.

OK, i would put the seam in the middle of the top or the bottom. Then take another piece of whatever you are using for your border about 2 inches long. Cut the ends back at an angle like, "\ /" and sew that over the seam and then do the same at the other end like you are covering one there so they match. Which would also reinforce the bend, whether it really needs it or not.

Like i said not sure i can put that in words , did that make sense ? I can free hand a drawing pretty quick if it will help.
