Hello Community, I am new to your site, thank you for having me. I am an artist, painting and drawing primarily. The last year I have been collaborating with a lithograqph techinian creating mostly stone lithographs. With stone and plate lithographs there is a process called, "Chine-Colle', one can uses Japanese papers or other thin, colored or printed papers instead of colored ink on the whole print or parts. I would like to use a thin leather or 'pleather' that can be used like the fine thin papers for Chine-Colle. The process is: the paper gets a thin coating of glue like a book making glue 'Jade' glue or spray glue is good. the glue side is placed on the hea…

Hey So I just ordered a Chartermade knife from their website. It shows 2 weeks to deliver, no biggie on that. I know they are in South Africa so I was wondering if there were a few people who could tell me how long it takes to get Chartermade after it ships to the US? I’m going on vacation in July so I wanted to make sure it wasn’t coming in while I was gone. Basically if it takes a month or so.

Hello. I am trying to find a reseller of Luigi Carnevali's reinforcement materials in Europe, but I cannot find anything. I tried contacting the producer directly, but they don't answer emails and only seem to be able to speak Italian when you call them I have found some of their reinforcements on rmleathersupply.com, but shipping from the US to Switzerland where I live is a bit expensive. Plus it doesn't make any sense to have it shipped half the world away and then back. I am mostly interested in the foam padding (Oslo), Velodon and either Brio or micro fibre to use for bags. I would greatly appreciate any help! Thank you, Pavel

Hello all! I am desperately searching for the book by Bob Park, Creating Western Floral Designs. I owned this book in the past and either misplaced it or loaned it out and have forgotten who. Does anyone know where I might find it in stock? Does anyone have one they would like to sell? Any leads are appreciated. Thank you! Rick

Hello again. I'm looking for very wide-headed buttons for a 19th-century sword belt. There are some photos here. I've seen replicas of these sorts of belts with this sort of button sold online, but so far I haven't been able to dig up a source for just the buttons. Right now I have the idea of grinding the top halves off the heads of regular Sam Browne-type buttons so there's the maximum possible flat surface, and soldering brass discs on, but I figure wide-headed ones that were actually made as such would look better, not be at risk of solder failing, and save me the trouble. Has anyone seen them for sale?

Hello everyone, I'm looking for belt rivets (the kind with burrs, not the threaded kind) for two layers of 2mm thick leather. The smallest ones in the local store are listed as 3/8" and are 2mm too long, so I guess I'm looking for ones that are as close as possible to 19/64". I'm not at all confident that 1/4" ones would work. I know it should be possible to shorten and re-taper the shanks of 3/8" ones, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask before doing something that tedious.

Hello! I am a novice shoe repairman. While washing your Hermes Oasis sandals with saddle soap, the soap bubbles and soap water got on the natural leather sole. At first, I thought it would be okay if I dried it well, but the stain does not come off no matter how much I dry it. How can I get it back to its original condition? The saddle soap is a Fiebings product.

I am an ice skate technician, who does equipment repairs for ice skates. An "old hand" mentor of mine showed me a piece of leather he said is known as "skate leather," and is used for repairing various parts of ice hockey skates. Now I'm sure that's just what they called it, and there's no specific designation or type of leather for it. He didn't have a source for acquiring any. Could anyone recommend a type of leather that would have excellent toughness properties, resistant to excessive stretching, is not too thick, and can be folded and conform to contours of the skate. An example for its use would be in the lacing area of a skate when an eyelet rips out…
