This is how I make cloth lined wallet pockets. I use a chasing hammer on the glues parts and folds. Which is important for good results. Be generous with the glue and make sure you don’t try to stick the pieces together before the glue is ready. I use Weldwood Contact Cement and I refill my tiny bottle from 32oz cans. For thin calf skin, get a rotary fabric cutter and keep the blade razor sharp. I cut 4” wide strips from a sturdy fabric. 2 of them will be 4.5” long while the rest will be 3” long. The 4.5” long pieces will be used with the back most pocket and will extend to the bottom of the forward most pocket. This gives a nice large pocket that can hold cash, vertical…

This is pretty cool. It looks super thin and pretty cheap too. If I was making a bunch of wallets to sell I put this in every one of them as an additional selling point. It's so cheap you wouldn't have to pass much of an additional cost on to your customers. If I make another wallet for myself or a family member I plan on putting this in it. Like why not. I don't know how this has been out but it's the first time I've seen it. RMLS - 0.1mm RFID Blocking Fabric Mesh

I got so used to working on small items I could tape down to a modest stone slab, and stick it in the fridge in plastic, when I'm not finising it in one evening. This is about keeping the work moist until the next go. Now that I'm moving to giant-breed dog collars (and probably human belts) I was wondering if there was any option other than carefully, loosely coiling the belt and placing it in the fridge on its side...? It gives me the willies not lying flat becasue I don't want it to deform r get squished etc. Or... presumably people put work in the fridge because they don't want to start rotting the leather, moist in a bag without cold, but I'd neve…

I wouldn't carry such a thing in my pocket, but customer is always right! I had fun with this one. Not much to it after the design and layout is done, but that was the fun part of this one. Sewing was a challenge, and learned a few things. Double stitched on all the corners. Who doesn't need more sewing practice? Lol

One of my first projects was a new belt for our mechanic at work. He asked me to make him a new work belt when I first got into this hobby. He's also an avid hunter, so I came up with this. He absolutely loved it but the "problem" is he won't wear it to work because he claims it's too fancy. It became his hunting/Sunday dress belt. Fast forward over a year, Miller still needs a new work belt, and we both forgot all about it. I guess that old worn out one wasn't so worn out! As a surprise, I just finished up a "less fancy" belt for him to wear to work. I tried a new dye technique I read about, make a new belt look old.

I found a leather money clip at estate sale. It’s stamped Handmade Made by Leonard Galvin. It’s the size of a credit card. Does anyone know what his stamp looks like? Thanks in advance Mod Note: Leonard Galvin was a saddle maker, apparently. Poster is wondering if their item is by the same person.

This is a purse pattern from an old Tandy pattern pack - believe it’s the “traveler” almost done with the double cordovan stitching! I’m probably going with a plain strap but there’s always the urge to do something extra. Maybe a simple border stamped strap.
