  1. That is beautiful, beautiful work. The design is great, really pleasing proportions. The thread colour suits the project perfectly. The stitching is very nice, precise. This is a lovely piece of work, congratulations.
  2. Nice job! I love some loop and diamond stitch. Did you use a template or did you free hand it?
  3. I have used, and deeply loathe. the white paint pens. Not for me. Haven't had much luck with the silver ones either. I do use tailor's chalk, but in the the little wheel tool. It's a plastic housing the shape of tailor's chalk, with small metal wheel which picks up chalk powder from inside and deposits it on the surface. The line is very fine and just brushes away. The wheel has very, very tiny little 'teeth'. Not enough to mark the leather but enough to give it a grip and make it turn as you 'draw' your line.
  4. Thanks very much for the replies. I don't fancy cutting my own, but I'll chase up the Lederhuis connection. Many thanks.
  5. Does anybody in the UK/Europe have a dependable supplier for Kangaroo lace? I have imported K lace in the past but we get slammed for import duty and tax here.... Mostly I use the 3mm width in tans, browns and black. Many thanks, Karl
  6. I use Tokonole a lot in my work. It's great and a little goes a very long way. I was having trouble getting hold of it for a while and researched an alternative. It's made by the Toko tool factory in Japan, and is called 'Oka'. It's good for flesh and grain side slicking, and excellent on edges. It produces very similar results to Tokonole, is a bit thinner consistency and slicker to the touch when wet, but burnishes up really well. I've found a lot of uses for it.... Also, it has a long shelf life, several years, unlike Tokonole. It's also a great deal cheaper. The attached pic is of the 100ml size pot, and they also make a 500ml pot
  7. I'm Karl. I was a member here a very long time ago, but lapsed and lurked for years. I'm based in London England. I'm a specialist leatherworker/propmaker in the film industry here in the UK, mostly medieval/fantasy Armoury and Historical stuff, but sci-fi, police, Western and military too. I've learned a lot over the years from the members here, and have decided to pay my dues and try to contribute, finally.... Karl
