  1. Well....since you now have also 2 Million different answers on this forum.....hahahahaaa...I give you one more...hehee...I make most of my biker bags out of Latigo, waxed and stuffed, rather a bit stiff but still very managable...very weather resistant too...can NOT be carved but border stamped somewhat... Makes nice bags and comes even in ohhhh soooo cool flat black !!! BUT, exept Ru leather, all leather is possible, because you used it, you made it and you will be judged for it.....!! Make it a 6-7 for light bags...and 8-10 for big stiff bags.....and make it yours !! Lets go....we need to see bags soon !!! Jim
  2. Get u a cheap nice Singer 111 or 211 and a servo motor...then u put a larger hand wheel on it.....if you think you need to hand wheel than do....then when u have a fast straight line stomp it...having a servo motor is as having both worlds....I have all my machines with servos...I can go soooo slow, when the needle comes down...I go and get me a beer and when I comeback the needle is just entering the leather....haha...but hand stitching i often needed on my vinyl tuff and wallet or so... jimbob
  3. Get rid of that pointy corner thingy !!! The belt slots are not as clean as they could be....I know what I am talking about....mine look like been cut with a chainsaw and then finished with a weedeater....szzzzz..... Love the design, nice clean work and looks like a secure and dependable holster !!
  4. You are as said before.....a god of leather art work and craftsmanship....love them shoes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Ok, scoot on up....from now on you can sit in the front seat and be able to roll down the window when ever you please !!! Well done and no Rookie stuff in sight.... Clean work and nice design...super nice work on the IWB holster!! Welcome to this forum !!! Aloha Jameson
  6. Try oil tanned in 5-6 oz...some oil tanned has a fairly firm hand and will work great on bags...especially when lined with 2-3 oz soft milled veg tan !!!!
  7. Had some green chrome tan laying around....sewed it up and....Ahhhha....shooting bags !!! Had a guy who wanted two ( 2 !!!!!!! ) holsters on a shoulder rig....sewed it up and....Ahhhha...done!!! Showed of latly the girl on the Hot rod....sewed it up and....Ahhha...done and sold !!! OK, who is next...???? James
  8. James....!!!! It is called Werstern rigs !!!!!! SPELLING !!!!
  9. How about a few belts I made the day before yesterday....all go to my work buddies and hopefully all of them fit....hahaha Ranger belts are lined with 2-3 oz veg tan and belt leather is 8-9 oz veg tan side...all the stitching is done by my beloved baby....a 60 year old Adler 105-64...love that thang...!!....she purrs like a kitten and looks like Marilin Monroe....and she smells like sweet lavender sewing machine oil and she...Ok, OK....I am snapping out of it...sorry... Jim
  10. Extra super awesome nice work with talent and a good hand and eye for fine art... Guess what I am trying to say is: You rock !!!!!
  11. Thanks guys....just piddeling around and learning more about Western rigs as I go... Yup...I have to agree...these Chicago screws have to go....super handsome to ajust but potbelly jam ugly....my next one will be sewn. My little man got a Ruger single six with 9 inch barrel for his Christmas...I have to make him a Wester rig...haha... Thanks again...
  12. Kydex holsters....hmmm Never liked them never made them never will carry one! That one said, urs look very handsome and very well made!! Here it comes....I justabout garantee u that I can, especially in cold weather....stand behind u and shear on of ur belt....I got ur gun and u have clips hanging of ur belt. If u hate ur gun and want to ruin ur finish...use kydex. If u want to have ur stitches cut and come undone make a sewn in kydex holster. Last one:try to reholster a gun into a stiff narrow kydex holster...then try that into a somewhat flexible leather holster....and I mean super fast in an emergency situation...u will be doing better in leather....!! Ohhh and try to carve kydex....haha....yeahh I know that's a lame one. Made my point, my final is....ur holsters still look good!!!! Jimbob
  13. Forget abot the Singer Shoe patcher...can not make large stitches and will not work on thicker leather...the Consew walking foot will be able to do light wallets and canvas bags....thats pushing it...all else needs a good leather stitcher....like a Cowboy, a large Adler or some Adler clones...not cheap but will be a money maker for many moons to come !! Look for a good used Singer 211 or 111...walking foot, they can do little wonders but 138 thread is most you can use on top !!... Go into the Sewing machine section here on this forum....tons of answers !! Jimbob
  14. OK, I wanna set this straight...Where I come from they say: Wia goats au...or Hanno, Griass de Goddle....gell !! So, clearly this Gruess Gott must be somewhere far far away from all REAL German language...remember...If you are NOT from Stuttgart....you are just not a Schwoab !! And yes, Hello to the Newbie and Greetings from SW Virginia.... As we would say over here...: How 'ya.. Ok, Now back to the leather stuff.... Jimbob
  15. Made some more leather stuff....been doing lots of leather work latly...keeps me sane and lets me ge a tad more creative then what I do at work...haha.. Jimbob
  16. A few more holster, some of them finally for my own use....Just enjoying myself doing some gun leather... Jimbob
  17. Just finished a few Western rigs and still working on how to place my tounge and billet... I think I caught the SA fever... Jimbob
  18. I would love to see this pattern/chart... Cant wait till you post it here !! Thanks for sharing... james
  19. Nice holster....clean design and well put together...the belt loop will cause problems, it is not wide enough to support that gun being so high and heavy....it will wobble and eventualle lean out....it would need a heck of a stout gunbelt to half way work....try a Avenger style holster design, or make loopspace wider...a fold-over sweat shield will work as a belt loop and can be made fairly wide...always thinking a one piece loop ( part of the actual holster ) will last longer and work better... You done well on the holsters, looks real good...we all just have to remember: If we make a holster, it has to be safe !! In a extreme situation the gun owner has to trust his life to his gear and weapon !! Jimbob
  20. Solid, massiv, bold and antique looking.....well done....good edge work too...cool carving....now go back and make some more !!!!!
  21. As said, I use Barge only and it WILL hold !!
  22. I use 2-3 oz and never had an issue with it !!! Ok, now thats not for an elegant wallstreet wallet, but a nice solid wallet last 20 plus years or so !! I have done many of them and it works well...carving is possible in 2-3 oz but details are more shallow....interiour is made of pig skin lining or thin chrome tan...I use what I have laying around....wet the piece to carve and before it is almost dry...shape it lightly and when finished....fold closed and claped it lightly down in closed position...done !! Jimbob
  23. Nice very solid work....keep it coming, good to see someone to pick up leather work and produce usable items!! Now to the details.....the edges need to be worked on, that makes half of your product !! Lots of info here in this forum....I use Fiebings bar soap, wet the edge and then rub the snot out of them...little wax on it rubbing and done...other people have othere ways....main thing is your eges look slick and smooth! Your sewing is not bad at all...keep practicing, all in all this is real good work !! Ohhh,,,, and any BoBoo....you do as in "he groover got away" > I always take a tool and cut some design over it or with it and claim that it was meant to be there in the first place !!...hahaha..... Rememer its all about fun... Jimbob
  24. A few pics of some rigs...note the tongue is way to far out I think now.....buckle is so-so ok...? Seems there is lots to learn....hahaha... Jimbob
