  1. Thanks Country, the english bridle leather is much more supple than veg tanned, so it is easier to maninpulate. not having to put color or finish on it yourself saves time and assures uniform color fro the drum dying process. as far as wet molding, i don't wet mold it. english bridle does not accept water well and it can darken the leather and make it blotchy. it is so soft anyways that you don't need to wet mold it for briefcases. Tony
  2. what Particle said is correct. quality leather makes a big difference. also 7/8 may be too thick to get real detailed moulding. try a 6/7 first and see how that works for you. Tony
  3. looks to be an "in the waistband" style. the holster sits inside the waistband and those two straps wrap over and around the belt to hold the holster in place when you draw the gun. don't know, however how comfortable a kydex holster would be in the waistband. Tony
  4. i use a 16 gauge stainless steel plate with the corners rounded and the edges smoothed. Tony
  5. i use thier standard grade and can't believe i ever used anything from Tandy. Wickett and Craig is awsome stuff. Tony
  6. Thanks Adam, i buy my leather from Wickett and Craig in full sides. it is expensive but i can get three to four bags from one set of hides. i have to order one side in 4/5 oz and one in 6/7 oz so it takes two sides to make those three to four bags. Tony
  7. wet forming the gussett would work. i did that with my first little bag made of veg tanned just to see if i could do it. you may discolor the leather a bit but it works for the molding. Tony
  8. i use 6/7 for the face and backing, and 4/5 for the gusset. i use W/C english bridle. it is much softer and easier to manipulate those corners that Particle was talking about. i think it makes a nicer looking bag than the straight veg tanned. just my two cents Tony
  9. weekend project for my wife. W/C english bridle with purple stingray inlay Tony

Thanks Luke and Vince. i had a lot of fun making it. Tony
  15. thanks Paul, yeah i don't have to put any finish on the english bridle leather. i burnish the edges the same way i do on my veg tanned holsters. wet em, rub em with a glycerin bar then rub with a yellow saddle soap soaked piece of denim. when the edge is dry i dye it then rub on some pariffin wax then buff out with another piece of denim. seems to work pretty good. Tony
  16. Thanks Phatdaddy! Tony
  17. just finished my third briefcase. it is Wickett and Craig English Bridle in tan. Tony
  18. thanks Buffalo Bill. Anester, i use Wickett and Craig English Bridle already dyed. the front and back are 6/7oz and the gussett is 4/5oz. will be posting pics of my third one in the next day or so. Tony

thank you very much. the leather for my satchels is Wickett and Craig English Bridle
  20. the biggest issues i have with complaints that my holsters are too tight are ALWAYS with Glocks. i think the fact that Glocks are so squared in their design may have something to do with how the holster grabs the gun when using the traditional stitch line measurements i use with any other gun. i have found that if i loosen it 1/16th of an inch it does help. with the 9 adn 40 cal glocks i force a glock 45 in it to stretch after its complete. that helps too. also try to not make such a heavy forward cant with the glock. again i think because of its shape too much of a forward angle makes it grab the gun Tony
