What is a good and affordable post leather sewing machine? I am looking for something to sew bags and shoes with. Is a walking foot or roller foot better to do most of these things with? Thanks in advance! Mooshi

What thread size are you using also? A lot of my friends use 277 for top thread and 207 for the bottom. I use 277 for both. Works fine for me. Mooshi

Tippman Boss Made Obsolite With Electric Machine?
mooshi replied to 15mules's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I have a Tippman Boss and will not part with it EVER. I found a case I could fit it into when I break it down. I have had many times when a friend called and needed some holsters sewn on site. You just can't do that with a heavy flat bed machine. I think it would be smart to have a stationary home machine and a Boss. You can't go wrong! Mooshi -
I've had my Tippmann Boss for about a year now and it can do everything I want it to do. It has it's advantages and disadvantages but to me those are minor. For one it is 23 pounds and I put mine in a case for portable use on site. My friend Owen and I have used it multiple times at his shop where we couldn't lug his heavy Singer machine to any shop. The negative side is you have to pull the handle to do one stitch at a time and doing belts will take a lot longer to do. On the flip side, doing one stitch at a time gives you precision and control that you can't do as well on a regular automated machine. If you want total control, go with the Tippmann Boss. I would personally recommend this and another machine like the Cobra series(see Steve on that one) to get all your leather sewing needs done. Mooshi

Nwa Pro Wrestling Belts Releathered

67 views and not one comment??? Mooshi -
I have been gone for a bit but have been keeping busy. I have been releathering and doing some custom work on replica wrestling belts that came on some cheap simulated leather. For those of you old school wrestling fans, I have worked on two NWA World Heavyweight Wrestling Titles. Cut from scratch from leather sides to the line 24 snaps. Both belts have a suede backing. The black belt was all done by me except for the lacing on the edge of the belt. My friend Owen did that. The edge lacing is all Kangaroo. The Red World Title Belt is a custom job also and has Black Kangaroo lacing which was done by Owen. The Diamonds were blinged by my friend Angie. The rest of the belt was all done by myself. Enjoy all! Attached are the links to my online portfolio since there are multiple photos. (Yes, I am also a photographer!) http://public.fotki....orld-title-rel/ http://public.fotki....ed-belt-releat/ Mooshi

Which blue guns to start with
mooshi replied to sfav8r's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Glock 17, 1911, and 9mm. Those are the ones I started with after talking to multiple people who make holsters. Mooshi -
I lucked into a Tippmann Boss today with box and all. I doesn't seem to be used and if it was, very lightly. My friend and I already lubed it all up and tested it and it works great. I want to sell this thing before Christmas and want $900.00 for it. The box is a bit beat up but has everything in it. Honestly I think someone bought this and then put it up in a closet and then decided to sell it. I would keep this thing but I am saving up to get a Cobra Class 4 from Steve. Please feel free to e-mail me at: amiga2091@yahoo.com I am in San Antonio, Texas and want to sell in this area. Just to let you all know, a brand new Tippman Boss from their website right now is on sale for $1195.00. Get this baby at a fraction of the cost! Thanks in advance! Mooshi

So I found this sewing machine today at a Goodwill for $20.00! A Nelco S-700 Model Zig Zag machine. It has all metal gears and sews light leather with NO problem. It does say made in Japan and came with no manual. Can anyone tell me about these sewing machines? Mooshi

Best thing to do is go to www.download.com and look at the top ten. Most of the stuff there is free and I use those programs to fix problems all the time. Mooshi

Since I am a Photographer, Videographer, and a hard core computer nerd as well, I use a Maxtor Central Axis NAS drive. The one I have is 1 TB and networks all my systems at home via wireless network and connects right to my router! Mooshi

To sew leather I use Nylon for the top and bobbin thread. I get the spools from my local Tandy Leather Company. Mooshi

I have been given the task of selling roughly 45 Industrial sewing machines from a company that is moving and not taking all their machines with them. They are ALL USED. I went today to take photos of what is for sale. I will list the best I can from a list I got and a lot of the machines will need servicing. For all I know with work all the machines will eventually work. If they don't work someone is going to mint just selling parts off of these machines. I looked up some parts and some sell for $18 just for ONE PART! Basically this is from an upholstery/leather furniture company in New Braunfels, Texas. Whoever buys this all MUST buy it all together. It is up to you if you want the all the motors and tables but the sewing machines must go. All I know the machines are 220(volts I assume for factory use?) Some tables are damaged and 3 pallets are parts and machines in stacks. Here are the list of machines I was told are working but still may need servicing. I want to really sell all of this in an AS-IS status. I have not tested any of the machines. Here is a list of what I did see: Singer 211A967KB-Only one Singer 191D300AA-Two of these Brother LS2-B837-Six of these Singer 211G165-Four of these Mitsubishi DU-105-One only Singer 212W140-One only Singer 153WSV3-One only PM me if you have SERIOUS offers. This lot can make you a ton of cash just on the parts alone. If I had the space and a shop I would get all these fixed and sell them off one by one to make a HUGE profit. I am in a time crunch and need to sell this entire lot. Sorry I cannot break up the lot. This is for all 45 machines and tables, parts, engines, and whatever is left in the lot. You must either live near New Braunfels and come with your own way to pick this stuff up. If you are coming out of state you will still need to bring your own trucks, vehicles for pickup. This will need several big trucks because these machines are heavy. I cannot deliver or ship any of this. All of this needs to be done roughly by Friday October 16th, 2009 give or take. The building will be shut down by the owner at the end of this month so all of it must be cleared out before then. Attached is the link to my online portfolio. I have 56 photos of the entire lot there. Here is the link: http://public.fotki....trial-sewing-m/ I hope to hear from somebody ASAP! Thanks in advance! Mooshi

Honestly I didn't know how to use a sewing machine until two months ago. I used to hand sew all of my leather! I got a cheapo $99.00 sewing machine and started practicing using it. It claimed to do light leather(very light I may add. LOL) Practice, practice, practice! I can't emphasize this! I started using Youtube and doing searches on leather sewing and sewing. Tons of stuff on there. Some stuff on leather sewing but more on regular sewing. It's a start and I hope this helps. Enjoy! Mooshi
