  1. My take on this is yes you can wet it and form fit the leatherman. As long as you haven't put the laq. finish on it yet. After your piece dries again be sure to treat it with another coat of oil the the final finish and you should be good. Tooling through Christmas.
  2. Tim, I am moving from a room 9' X 12' into a 12' X 20' building about the same size as yours. Your layout is good and has given me some ideas. Thanks for the pics. tat2, Thanks for your pics. I have an old book press that I am restoring much like the one you have.
  3. JohnD, Thanks for finding this post this is just what I was looking foor. Lots of great ideas here.
  4. Dually, I have looked and cannot seem to find that thread. Any ideas where it is? If not Feel free to be the first to post pics here. Thanks.
  5. I have not seen a topic posted on shops yet. How about if we start one on what your shop looks like. Personally I am remodeling and getting ready to move into a bigger shop and would love to see some of your shops for ideas. If you are willing to share photos of your work place lets see where this will go. I will post photos of my shop when I am moved in. Thanks.
  6. Mr Bob, I was inspired a while back when I came on this web site and found someone ( Tim Kleffner ) to teach me Sheridan style carving. Now everytime I come on here I am inspired all over again. I am not going to throw my tools away but am going to aspire to be the best I can be. All of your work is awesome and I am a regular to your web site just to look in awe. Please keep this good stuff coming and give us rookies something to shoot for. Leatherworker.net is my most visited web site. I hope to be able to meet you in Sheridan in May. Thanks.
  7. Elton your shop rocks. I am in the process of moving into a shop about half the size of yours and this give me some great ideas. Your work space layout is great and I like the way your tool rack looks. Thanks for sharing.
  8. Hey T welcome to LW.net. This is the place to learn all there is to learn about leather. Let me make one suggestion. Find someone in your area that is an accomplished leather worker and get some one on one with them and your work will take off like you never imagined. You will be amazed how fast you will imprive with a little help to point you in the right direction. Keep up the good work.
  9. I'm not sure why you can't save this. I was able to right click and save image as.
  10. Dave, You do really great work. This is a good inspiration. My son wants me to make a seat for his bike and this helps me get motivated.
  11. This is what I did also. Most Grave stone places have old Military markers that are not used. The Government furnishes every Vet with a marker and most families do not use them so they are sometimes just laying around taking up space. If you ask for them you can probably get one for free or for pennies. Mine is 30" x 18" x 6" and built into my table and It works great. I also have a 2" sink cutout that I use when I go to Tim Kleffners shop for training and It works good for that on his sturdy table. I agree with the others - The thicker the better and make your table as strong as you can.
  12. Ok Tor I am waiting with much anticipation. Sounds like I need to come to Norway to look for some bargins. What a trip that would be.
  13. Tor, Man you rock. It would be an honor to recieve this gift from you. If you want to, just send it to me postage due or we can find out how much shipping will be and I can send you the money up front. What ever is the easiest for you. My address is as follows: Mark E. Caylor 59 Alabama Ave. Victoria, Texas 77905 Let me know. I stand in amazement of the support and generosity of the people on Leatherworker.net. God Bless all of you.
  14. Sewmun I am interested in the cut down version. Can I give you a call and discuss this?
  15. This post has been extremly informative. Great job. I have an Adler 30-1 also and am looking for a bobbin winder. Anyone have a clue where to find this little jewel. I looked on the site that Trox suggested but my German is a little rusty.
  16. Hey Tim, I have set right in your shop and you showed me these steps in person and I still can't get the angle right. Oh well I guess I have to keep on practicing. I remember you said do it 10 times then look back and see the progress. Looks like I am going to do it more than ten times to get it right. Some of us (me ) are more dense than others. But everything else looks better than when I first started with you. I will call you some time next week and set up some time for training. You keep on teaching and I will keep on learning. Oh by the way I ordered one of Chan Geers books this week.
