  1. Hey thanks guys for the kutos! I posted it on a shovelhead site that I go on and in two hours its was sold. The guy that is buying it also wants a matching piston toolbag to go with it. I was thinking that not sewing one would save some time and be a little different. It is different but not sure it saved any time or not. By the time I got all the holes layed out and made sure they lined up and tooled both sides, I could have prob hand sewed two seats. Oh well its all goog and the seat gets a new home. Thanks Joker
  2. Just finished this solo seat. I had this idea bouncing around in my head for awhile and had some spare time so I thought I would just build it. It has no sewing on it at all. It is held together with chicago screws and the front and back are tooled. I used chap hide to cover the edges around the seat. The spring bolts are 7" on center and the seat is 11" wide and 14 1/2" long. I built it to sell so if anyone is interested, shoot me a PM. Thanks Joker
  3. Anyone got a good place to get a personal stamp with a logo and my name on it? I have seen some made from nylon and they would prob work fine but was wondering if there is anywhere that makes them from metal. I just want something so I can stamp my products with my name and logo. Any help would be great! Thanks Joker
  4. Hey Thanks! I think your right. I think im holding the tools to tight. I need to teach myself to hold them more lightly and to not bend my thumb so much at the first joint. I guess it will be a retrain thing like ya said. Thanks guys Joker
  5. I think that might be my problem. I will try to find some tubing I can slide over the tools to see if that helps. Thanks! Joker
  6. Not sure if this is the right place or not but I got a question. I have been really busy the last 5 or 6 months and have been doing alot of tooling. Heres my problem. I am right handed and I hold my tools with my left hand. Now when ever I tool my thumb on my left hand hurts like crazy. It mainly in the first joint and if it bend back even a little bit I almost come out of the chair. I work security in a hospital and asked the doc what it could be and he told me it sounded like "Trigger Thumb". If I go a little while without tooling it gets a little better but like today I tooled for about 2 hours and tonight at work its killing me. Its stiff all the time and hurts like crazy. Am I the only one that has had this problem? Im 47 years old and know im falling apart but just wondering if this is common. Any help would be great. Thanks Joker
  7. Just finished up this leather patch for a friend. He sent me the idea and this is what I cam up with. It is about 8" long and he wanted it for his vest. Thanks Joker
  8. Thanks for the kuto's guys! I used Fiebings Oil Dye for the black and the orange was Eco-Flo Cova that Tandy sells. I thinned it down so it would get better penatration. I hate using that paint but I could not find any orange dye. I tried to mix red and yellow and just could not get the right shade of orange. The guy wanted it to match his orange frame and the font on his tanks. As far as the burnished edges go, that is just alot of rubbing with a tool that I made years ago out of white nylon. I use the Gum Tragacanth on the edges and just rub the daylights out of it until I get a real smooth edge. Im by no means as good as others on here but Im learning. Thanks Joker
  9. Just finished this seat for a customer in Arkansas. He has Rogue Shovel on his tanks and wanted the seat to match the font. Thought I would share. Thanks Joker
  10. Just finished up this seat for a guy in Canada. He gave me the specs for the pan so I built the pan and did the leather for him. The toolbag is something I was just messing around with but dont think it turned out to bad. I used a hardwood I had laying in the shop for the side panels, just something different. Thanks Joker
  11. Just finished this bag for a guy with a wideglide. He is a sniper in the Air Force and wanted a skull with crosshairs. This is what I came up with. Thanks Joker
  12. Just finished this tank panel, it has a piece front and back and then hand sewn. Just thought I would share. Thanks Joker
  13. Look great! She should be able to get her stuff in that one! Joker
  14. Thanks for the kuto's! Sleep, what is that?? LOL, got to build them as they come in I guess. Got another dash panel coming in to cover and tool. Its all good, I will get enough sleep when they nail the lid shut I guess. Thanks Joker
  15. Made this for a guy. He wanted a cross and some western floral type tooling. Western floral isnt really my thing but this is what I came up with. He really loved it so I guess its all good. Thanks Joker
  16. Just finished and shipped this solo seat for a guy. He sent me the pan which had some tooled leather already on it but he didnt like it. He wanted the "69" done for the year of his scoot. I stripped the seat and used the foam. Molded the top and bottom pieces and then hand sewed them together. This is what I came up with. Thanks Joker
  17. Not sure if it will sag or not. Using just the one center strap should help with that. The pistons are aluminum out of a shovelhead, so the weight isnt that bad. I had never seen another bag using piston tops for the ends, thought I had an orginal idea, goes to show someone else is always quicker. Thanks for the kutos. Joker
  18. Had an idea for a toolbag using pistons for the ends. This is what I came up with. Its 10" long, about 4" across the end and the straps in the back are 6 3\4" on center and will fit a narrow glide front end. I built it to sell so I thought I would share. Thanks Joker
  19. Thats a really good looking holster. Thats kinda what Im going after, just wanting it a littler darker down in the tooling part. Thanks Joker
  20. Good looking bag! And it has a function!
  21. I used a Saddle Tan antique gel and a paint brush. Just daubed it on and wiped it off and where the brush hit the leather first it stayed darker then just feathered it out from there. Hope that helped. Joker
  22. I got the pic from a motorcycle site and yes I did ask him how he got that kind of finsh and he told me that he used some special oil that he had come up with. I guess I will never get that finish because I use the leather that I can get from Tandy. Nothing close to me and Tandy is 85 miles away. I hate to order leather over the phone and not know what Im getting. Thanks for the help on this, I will just keep trying different methods till I can get it close Thanks Joker
  23. Hello, I found this on another site and was wondering if anyone can tell me how to get this effect. I love the tan tone but how can it be done where the tooling is darker than the rest. I have tried antique gel, different tans dyes and mink oil. I just cant get this effect where the tooling is darker. Any help would be great. Thanks Joker
  24. Chainftw your right in what it means. They ar still pissed about them not making the shovelhead no more, lol. Im cutting them out of a hide that is about 10 to 12 oz. Here is what it looked like finished.
