  1. That is the size of the paper.
  2. I have the Motorcycle Pak and Vol. 1 of the Making Leather Cases. They seem to be rather different. If you don't want to make your own patterns, the Pak the obvious choice, but the Cases volumes will be more informative of the theory behind making cases from scratch, from what I've seen. So, what are your plans? Make cases right now, or go for a masters course in making cases. Your needs will dictate.
  3. We need a salute function for this board.
  4. No problem! Pix would be appreciated, I love stealing learning new things, so seeing other people's work is inspiring. I really like seeing people who go over and above the original pattern. The "half Hatter" I did was fun, and an interesting exercise in modification issues. Plus, I do well appreciate that some of you folks make your living with this stuff, and these days we could all use any help that comes along.
  5. Here's the pattern. It's a "large", for me. You'll want to get the measurements for the numbered points for a custom fit for the customer, of course. There is a 1/4" seam allowance built in. The dimensions are for a square that piece would fit into. (You can print the crown on legal size paper or piece it together, either works.) I'm going to cover one of these in buffalo for next winter's campfires.
  6. I'm well chuffed. The first attempt at upsizing the pattern came out like this. (It's tacked together with a stapler.) That's the liner, btw. Bit cheaper to do cloth for prototypes of course. The pattern allows for 1/4" for the seams, so it won't be quite so "narrow" when it's done.
  7. Aviator cap I'll post pix when I get it done.
  8. I couldn't tell from your username that you were into hats. I'm on the look-out for other hat patterns. I can load them the same way as the 2062 if I get my pitty-paws on them for a few days. So if any of you have some squirreled away, I'd love to hear from you.
  9. I'm grinding a stainless steel bolt down to see how close I can get without doing any real work.
  10. Thanks, I'll check it out. Sorry, that's now what I'm looking for. This stamp would have a gull-wing profile to it, so both sides of a cut would be curved at the same time. I need it for places where neither side of a cut should be lower than the other, but definition of the cut is needed for emphasis. Like this, but curved, not flat.
  11. It was a Tandy person that helped me complete that Pack. I had the Maverick, luck lead me to it via Google. I got it in time to make a hat to wear to my wedding late July. Going to Tandy for the leather lead to my getting copies of the other three items. And interesting chain of events. To me anyway.
  12. I'm looking for a tool that will put a small curve on both sides of a cut. If you've ever seen the stylized "double bow" that is used to suggest birds, that's what I would like to have. Any clues for Googling would be appreciated.
  13. Don't forget, you can get a very acceptable copy of really large sheets with a digital camera. If you use a camera stand like I posted in the Photography forum you can get square, clear shots easily. Additionally, if you want to do a few sheets, your local professional copy shop should have a large format scanner that will do the job. Check prices first, I would suggest.
  14. This is going much better than I expected. I'll post some pix when I get the samples done.
  15. Velcro dots. Easy to put on by yourself, and easy to apply. I get them from the sewing department at Wally World. If you want a fancier look, use a tongue and slot attachment or rectangular D-ring.
  16. I run a line with dividers set at the proper distance from the edge, then walk down that line with the dividers. If you do this a lot for a particular spacing you might want to make a template out of sheet metal.
  17. I assume you've made a connection, Maus? If anybody wants to upload pix of their efforts with this pack I'd love to see what you did. And I'll steal any good ideas PDQ, of course.
  18. Most white dyes have been a disaster for me. Cova white MIGHT work on a previously white item, to touch it up. But vat dyeing is probably the only certain way.
  19. Interesting experiment there. The combination of the rubber stamp and the relief is unique.
  20. Try again. It works from here. If you don't have it downloaded in a few hours, send me a email addy by PM.
  21. I've been asked to do a top hat without the laces in the back of the crown. Never tried that before so I'm thinking a strip of leather about two inches wide and glued to the inside would do. Anybody done anything similar? If so, anything to share on that?
  22. Anybody have experience with this? I have about a dozen wolf-related rubber stamps I'd like to try going 3D with them. Any issues, challenges, surprises you can share?
  23. Cool. I'll have to see what the community is like in St. Louis. Thanks, all! BTW, was "Golden Compass" a steam punk movie?
  24. I can see a niche market for steam punk leather vests here.
  25. Ditto on the dead link. Copy if possible, please?
