  1. I never make an errors, so a sharpie is fine for me. *goes off to buy some pencils*
  2. Naughty naughty! (Using an ultra-fine Sharpie would help prevent damage to the screen, yes?)
  3. GIMP is good, I've used it online several times.
  4. Just open the picture, chose "Picture" from the top menu. Then choose "Resize" for the drop down menu. On the right side you'll see a set of options. I downscale by 25% at a time until it gets too small and then go back up 5% or less at a time until I'm happy with the size. Important, save the original under a new name, like "Pattern-Original", Picture Manager will work on the picture loaded unless you open a new picture. Let me know if you have any problems.
  5. One more: Leatherworking by Paul Hasluck. ETA: http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=leather%20work
  6. I use Paint Shop from Corel for tricky jobs, but for resizing I just use Office Picture Manager. You can resize to a specific measurement, by percentage, etc.
  7. If you have a photo manipulation package that allows you to resize the image by percentages just scan it and print out a size that looks likely. Tweak the resize to get an exact fit.
  8. You mean these? They don't look too challenging.
  9. I look remarkable like him. Except I'm bald, my beard is grey, I'm 30 years older than him and a wee bit heavier. And he's cute, while I'm not. Otherwise, we could be twins.
  10. My wife just said I could make one, but I had to fill it properly.
  11. This. I do "standard" bags with the pattern pak, and go to the books for custom orders. I do tend to take the patterns and modify them quite frequently.
  12. You could use the Maverick or Hombre pattern as the basis of one. Just make the brim tricorn and you're set, I think. If you want the top domed like that picture, just stitch it "finished side to finished side" instead of the way the pattern states.
  13. Tip. Find a way to allow the buyer to recharge the phone while the case is closed.
  14. The cell phone pattern I posted elsewhere is for a Samsung Moment, btw.
  15. Thanks. When I have some experiments ready for viewing I'll send them to you. Email addy coming via message.
  16. As noted elsewhere, I donate leather items to the Endangered Wolf Center for their gift shop. So, I'm looking for ideas for the goodies and am quite willing to steal copy borrow any good carvings I can find. Patterns would be nice, but anything to fire the imagination would be greatly appreciated. On behalf of our canid guests, I thank you in advance.
  17. I'd add about another 1/4" to the edges that will show for sewing purposes. Leather doesn't fold as neatly as cloth, so that extra material is handy.
  18. The chin strap needs to be about twice that wide if you plan to sew it. I'll post a modified cheek pattern when I get it done. Alternative is to have a separate strap that you can attach at both cheeks. That would make for less waste when cutting the leather.
  19. 18" x 18" x 1/2" marble tiles from Loew's for $4.99 each. I put four of them together, rough sides facing each other in two layers.
  20. After getting feedback from buyers I would suggest you narrow the flap so they plug the recharger in without taking the phone out of the case or leaving it open.
  21. Sorry for the short answer, I was in the cinema and the movie was coming up. "("Hanna" if you're interested.)
