  1. the fastest i could get to it would be probably by next friday probably have it out to you that money. let me know ill do it for $30 shipped.
  2. How long can you wait? i have one that i need to make a holster with for a customer, after that i do not care to have it anymore. i can probably get around to it in about two weeks.
  3. Does anyone know where i can get 1 or 2 herman oak belt blanks with out buying a whole side and having it stripped up. the only strips i seem to find are garbage quality. I have a project that i need to finish before the 15th so if someone even has a few laying around that they would want to sell me id appreciate that too. need 2, 7-8oz 1.5x45 strips, can be longer but no shorter. Thanks!
  4. congrats that is a nice machine
  5. I have a sig p226 Rings blue gun that id like to trade for another blue gun. Please let me know if anyone is interested, I got it in a trade and i have never had any interest in a holster for that type of gun. Im really interested in Kahr blue guns but open to all others.
  6. Go to youtube and search for "how to make a leather holster" find the 3 part tutorial posted by Particle, he is a resident member on here.
  7. Thanks for the kind words! Id love to tour the factory some day! ive seen a video of there operation and it looks awesome! kcinnick - You can by herman oak in any quantity you want from springfield leather, you do not need to buy whole side which is AWESOME! you can buy as little as 2sqft?? i think or maybe 4sqft. Herman oak is the same grade as WC some will say Herman oak is above WC and some will say WC is about Herman oak... but either way they are both the top leather tanners in the US.
  8. Yah hand stitched! id love to have a cowboy 3500 but i dont have the extra $1500 to buy one right now, hopefully in the new year! Thanks for the compliments guys. Particle - yah i knew it had to be better but was waiting to pull the trigger, i bought a dummy gun from a holster maker going out of buisness and he sent me a few samples of herman oak so that sold me. Eaglestroker - Im a welder/fabricator by trade so i know what you mean, try running a tig bead on garbage aluminum! Ive heard good things about wickett and craig and maybe at somepoint ill give them a try!
  9. So I finally decided to buy me some herman oak. This is some very nice stuff. The smell is different then tandy leather and smells like id expect leather to smell! it seems to except the die better then the stuff i was using, as well as it seems to except the finishing product better too. Im definitly hooked now!! Oh the holster came out nice too i think
  10. Gum tragacanth takes care of rough back sides. And if you always pick out your leather at a tandy store you should make sure that your backs look good. If you do not go into the store and get it mailed to you then id suggest getting some leather from Springfield Leather, call in the order and specifically tell them your making holster and need the backs nice, they will usually pick out out some good hides.
  11. Thank you! the finish is eco flow satin sheen.
  12. Looks good, im personally not a fan of the bersa 380 design, but the holster came out nice!
  13. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=22992&st=0&p=147075&fromsearch=1entry147075 The answer is no its not stitched behind the reinforment piece the link i provided will show you how a reinforced throat holster is put together, the one in the link is a vmax design but the concept is the same for the reinforced throat.
  14. there are two t-nuts sandwhiched inbetween the parent leather and the support leather, ill post a picture. Let me know if you need more explanation. Thanks the compliments, the customer loves it, which makes me very happy.
  15. Nice quality piece. As far as your comments on the elphant not adding enough reinforcement by itself with out adding a layer to it first, it actually does add a pretty good amount of reinforment by itself. I have made a few like this and i was actually suprised at what kind of reinforcement it adds.
  16. looking good sir. love the ostrich leg, what supplier are you using for that?
  17. Almost everything has been pointed out that needs to be accept what i will add. Your belt slots appear to be way to close to the gun on both side, also you did not seem to curve/mold the slot to fit a belt while you were wet forming this. What will happen with this is that a regular 1/8th in belt will fit through the slots but when you actually got to wear the belt and holster you will find that the belt will push on outward on the back side of the holster while the outter side of the belt slots will be pulling in, this will create a ton of retention. the only way youd be able to get away with this setup with out having to curve/mold the belt slots is to have a flat backed holster to where the entire gun is biased to the outside. Now lets bring a gun belt into the picture, typically thicker than a standard belt, double in most cases, this will magnify the effects i have previously stated almost making it unable to draw the holster. You should make if you have no already some belt dummies of different thicknesses to use during the molding process, for a good example of what i am talking about a forum member named Particle has a 3 part holster tutorial up on youtube, during which he shows how to welt mold with the belt dummy. I hope this makes sense, if it does not please let me know i can post pictures with examples of what i am talking about.
  18. Looking good, that frogskin is very nice! i need to get me some of that!
  19. Hope these photos help on how its assembled. its pretty much the same concept as the reinforced throat. Rayban - im not sure why the wing is there, but thats what galco did so the customer wanted it to look like a galco so i made it as identical as i could. I edited the photos in photobucket and rotated them but for some reason when i link them its not showing the rotated pictures... sorry!
  20. Customer came to me and said he just got an MK9 and wanted a holster for it, he really love the Galco royal guard that he had for his g26 but they do not make it for the mk9.. so i made my own version for him. Lets hope he likes it This was my first time doing an all natural holster, i had to convince the guy to do the straps in tan since they will be seen on the belt. Doing this all natural really makes me have to clean my hands a lot to keep myself from staining the leather, not perfect but it will do. This was also my first time doing the flesh side out(customer request) it was very interesting to say the least. Shooter Mcgavin ... youll notie something on the straps that i dont normally do!! give me time i may just learn to like the look
  21. I have been trying to get my sister into leatherworking, not into the holster scene but other areas of leatherworking because i think she would enjoy the craft and she wants to start a small buisness to put up on etsy.com. So in various conversations and me showing her examples and her showing me what she has found we have now have a running joke. She will link me something and say "HANDMADE" and its usually something that is incredible horrible that I cant believe someone would be able to sleep at night knowing they actually sold that to someone for the prices they are asking. On top of that on etsy.com you can see the venders selling history to see what items they sold and for what price... my mouth drops to the floor when i see what has sold and for what price... UNREAL i have stuff sitting in my scrap bin that i think are garbage but they make it look like gold. So the running joke is "Hey check this out its HANDMADE" we always get a good laugh out of it.
  22. Thanks, the reinforced throat is actually a pretty easy thing once you understand the order in which to assemble stuff! I have fallen in love with them!. I use USMC black from fiebings and either satin or super sheen from eco-flo for the finish.
  23. Another thing i noticed was that your belt in the drawing is in the wrong spot, you have it running through the buttons when infact it will be sitting below the buttons about 1/4 inch below. Also i dont think it was mention in any other posts. but your gun is not "Cocked and Locked" you hammer is in the down position, you will need to put it in the cocked position and make sure the sweat guard covers that, as it stands right now it will now cover that area.
