  1. And another one. This time stingray theme. Small magnet keeps the flap closed.
  2. RG, 5-6oz is the way to go. Thats what I use for small pouches. Client asked for the slot to push the lighter up. I ve made one with a thumb sized hole in the front/bottom. This time I wanted to hide it a bit. Do show what you come up with ! Cheers Mat.
  3. No idea. I got the knife from a customer, and it had already had the knot on. Mat.
  4. Black one just to secure the knife when its in the backpack. Brown, horizontal, back carry. Mat.
  5. Glad you like them. I hand stitch all my work. No place for a machine yet, maybe one day.... Mark - both actually went to your country Mat.
  6. That is so true! Unfortunatelly it causes that sometimes It is necessary to put up with "customers" who would question your price and point that "they can get it cheaper". For me, custom is combining clients wishes with my style and meeting somewhere between. Chief, I understand what you are talking about. When I was beginning my adventure with leathercraft (still am) I browsed through tons of sites with... different content. Dont know where you looked but my advice is to look on foreign forums as well. You might find some inspiration there. PM me if you want some links. Regards Mat.
  7. For provision work I put my mark on the back side. Simply not to disturb the overall look of the product. and as already mentioned its good to have different variations of your mark to use on different size work. Iguess that when people see a holster, sheath or a pouch on your belt they first notice the design. If they like what they see they can always look closer to find who made that piece. Mat.
  8. A new sheath for S1 with multiple carry options.
  9. Thank you for kind words. Customer especially wanted without any metal parts. I have studs waiting for the hole/stud design . Thanks for the other ideas! I secure the inside with a thin leather. Hmm...not sure abouth the weight (thye charge for sqr/ft) It's 2-3 mm thick. Stamps were ordered here. http://www.leprevo.c.../embossing.htm. They make it from Magnesium plate. You need to send them black and white design and in return you receive plate with embossed stamps. The thing is you pay for sq in (min. being 20 sq in) and its up to you how many stamps/logos etc you wish to include there. Its not as durable as engraved stamps but the stamp/price is really good. And besides, leather is fairly soft so I dont think it will wear of I use PALC leather balm http://www.palc.es/i..._balsams.html#3 Mat
  10. Simple sheath for a small knive. The knife would be carried in the backpack rather than on the belt, therefore lack of the loop. You can still attach it with a piece of leather/nylon strap.
  11. You made a valid point before and thank you for that I think that no matter how experienecd one is, any advice from someone even more experienced might be helpful. Mat
  12. And another one. Designed to go with a suit and a tie
  13. My first attempt in carving. And another pouch.
  14. Wet formed, 3mm leather, finished with leather grease. Matt.
  15. Added photos in the thread on forming http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=31592&st=0&gopid=197895entry197895
  16. So, we take a piece of leather, wet it, wait a bit and start fforming. Work around the corners stetching both sides at the same time. Make breaks between forming to let it dry a bit. You can see the egdes get slightly brighter as it dries. Use modelling tool to even the sides, edges etc.
  17. Hi Jerry, Have a look here in case you have not yet. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=31592&st=0&p=197156&hl=mkleathers&fromsearch=1entry197156. I'll add few photos soon. But its really as described there and quite simple to be honest. Start with something simple and keep going. And do finnish your projects! If its done, even if not perfect it really feels great and gives power to continue. As for tools ..... Form leathercraft tools I use 2 groovers, 1 beveler a punch gun and awl and few needles So, provided you have the whole set I bet you wont lack any equipment. Good luck and show us your work! Matt.
  18. To add, its my first non sheath/pouch project. Leather 2-3 mm, red SLAM, neatsfoot oil, grease, edge cote. Mat.
