Hello Brandon. Glad to see that you have taken an interest in leatherwork. You will master that which you seek to do and with the assistance from the members here, there is nothing would prevent you from becoming a master of the craft. Great place to be and certain that your wife loves the purse. Nice to have some personal attachment to something, rather than something purchased from China, Pakistan, India, or all of the other mass production places. I can imagine that it is a thrill, to teach and show the world to your children. So many of the children today don't even seem to know the names of the states and must no longer be a school topic. Heard one kid ask if Idaho was a place in India. lol. Well, today ends another year for us. I sincerely hope that you and yours have all the best in the coming year. Live life to the fullest as it is so short, in terms of things we would like to do and learn. God Bless. Ray

Hello Finnb, I also have the unit from Goldstar Tool and it has been great. Especially the reasonable cost of the dies for various applications. Hope you find one soon. Best wishes for the New Year. God Bless. Ray

Hello Bert, I have no actual experience with their embosser but do know that it will allow use of the largest embossing wheels. I have had the Tippmann and now have the embosser made by the Amish, which I like but it will not accept extra large wheels. I have some of the bunkhouse embossing rolls, 1 or 2, and they are larger than the machine will accept. The primary reason I did not opt for the Bunkhouse Embosser is due to the foot application needed to apply pressure. Physical restrictions prevented this action. Ray and Patti are great folks and sure that you would enjoy their machine if purchased. God Bless and best wishes for an outstanding New Year. Ray

Hello Electrathon, I can find the pic in the camera but a video symbol pops up and I cannot figure out how to get it out of the video mode and into the standard pic mode so it will download to computer. Confusing mess for me. Not well versed with all of this great technology. Must still be stuck in the crank start car days. lol. God Bless. Ray

Another fine tool I will no longer be using. Purchased this splitter/skiver from Bruce Johnson and it is in very nice condition. Only used a couple of times since purchased and worked as it should. Great vintage splitter for you shop. $250.00 plus shipping. God Bless. Ray ps; The compass is not included. Just something I picked up from Bruce and cleaned and now use on a regular basis.

Came upon an American skiver which was in very good condition but very soiled so disassembled completely, totally cleaned, de-rusted, assembled, lubed, and painted. Blade is average but could be sharpened or a new blade possibly purchased from Bruce Johnson or others. Skiver is very tight with no slop and functions as it should. First $250.00 plus shipping can have this great machine. Hope you like it, even if not something you wish to have at this time. Was a labor of pure pleasure for me. Will attempt to attach pics. God bless. Ray

Hello All, I have decided to sell a selection of edge bevelers which are in very good condition and some still have the preservative coating on the ends. Many are Craftool and some I am no longer aware of who I purchased from. I etched the size numbers into the handles as the small numbers on blades are difficult for me to see. Hopefully I can get the pic attached. Selling all for $100.00 plus flat rate shipping in which they should fit nicely. Please send me a pm if any interest. God Bless. Ray ***NOTE**** SOMEHOW I GOT THE PIC IN "VIDEO" ON CAMERA AND NOT ABLE TO FIND A METHOD THAT WILL ALLOW ME TO ATTACH HER. WILL TAKE ANOTHER PIC LATER AND THEN POST. Thank you for being patient.

I think I have a temporary solution and will test this week. Wife took me to Lowes and took grommets with me and found that metric deep well sockets fit the tubes very nicely, with no wiggle room around the barrels. I have a 1/4" drive extension that I will use and plastic hammer/maul should not harm the tool. Do not have to strike with a lot of force so hoping this does the trick. Thanks to all of you and your ideas got me going. God Bless. Ray

Hello Bob, Just had to say that I enjoyed the excellent video on burnishing and wanted to say thank you for providing information about the Quik-Slik as offered by Sheridan Leather. It is a superb product and works like a charm. I had a few rough edged items in the shop and experimented with burnishing using the product and was amazed. Almost made the edges look like a pro did the work. lol I thought, initially, that it was a bit expensive but when I learned how little I had to use during my trials, it is, indeed, a real bargain. I would recommend this product to anyone that wanted an excellent product that would assist with achievement of a finely burnished edge. Also, I used a motorized burnisher, the one offered by Steve of Cobra Fame, and it is also a very welcome addition to my workspace. Thank you, again. God Bless. Ray

Thank you my friends. Finally got the juices flowing again. Not able to do the drilling into metal rod, although it would be a great project. Will have a friend take the grommets to an auto parts store for brake line and Home Depot as well. Simple tool and I probably have something, somewhere, in the shop but memory storage bank is locked up, or so it seems. lol. I do have some brass tubing, left over from G Scale Model Railroading days but certain that it would be soft and curl after a few bangs of the hammer. Perhaps, weather permitting, wife can get me out and about today and we can do the "finding", while running around town. Thank you again for giving me the boost I needed. God Bless. Ray

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and now preparing for a great New Year. I am seeking some small pieces of tubing that would fit over the tube on #0 and #00 grommets. Need to be about the length of a hand punch and not flimsy as I would like to be able to strike with maul. My mind has gone astray and can't seem to figure out what I could use or where I could locate such tubing so thought I would ask the experts. I have been using a small socket but need something that is a bit closer to the actual diameter of the tubes on grommets. Any assistance will certainly help and perhaps wake up this old timers memory bank. lol. God Bless. Ray
