Leather Thickness For Headstalls?
klint fluitt replied to cowboy bill's topic in Saddle and Tack Accessory Items
I use 14 oz leather that isn't taned all the way through. It has a lot of rawhide in it and never seems to stretch or brake. But when I started out I'd make em out of 6 -7 oz stuff it strtched but every one wanted them -
you want cheap and some what easy if ur a jack of all trades, I took a bearing press welded up som angle iron on both top and bottom and took some 3/8 flat steel and welded it to the top. On the bottom I put 3/16 cheat metal and glued 1/2 poly board on it. It woorks great but it's hand operated.

I know I'll have to pay unkle sam but I fugured yal woukd know. If so do you talk to the courthouse or where.

I'm lookin for a machine to sew my saddle skirts, they usually range from 1/2 and less. I know I can get a cheaper machine that sews 1/2 but I don't want to constantly fix the timming. I'm in a budget but what is a good machine to sew skirts with, I looked at the ferdco 440 and the techsew GA5-1R but I heard they aint any good so I need advice.
