  1. Rivet gun? Whats that?? Do you mean one of those pop rivet gun things? Or do you mean there's something out there that automatically rivets stuff like with the rivets most of us use? Sorry for going on a tangent but if theres some unknown tool to me.... lol
  2. 3-4K for something like this, or what it will be when it's finished, the full suit I mean. Just for the corset I'd have to estimate somewhere around 700-1K depending on certain things...
  3. Thanks all Colors are gold, and fiebings green and blue and the gradients in between.

hmm... Sound interesting, and expensive, never seen one myself, have a pic or reference?
  5. It's alright, there's a pretty lady who's commissioned this to fit her so it'll be going to a good home.
  6. Someone said I should upload more.. sooo here ya go. More info at my DA gallery @ Azmal.DeviantArt.com
  7. Hmm I haven't seen those stamping tools before, were they custom or old discontinued? They're cool. I wish I had a more wide array of stamps.
  8. Depends on who makes it. The stuff I make is very easy to wear, joints are all very flexible and comfortable as well as functional. I have a friend who does cartwheels in that enormous brown/gold armor. Leather can also be heavier than historic steel plate but the misconception is that steel plate was very heavy, when actually it was relatively rather light and very functional. My leather leather armor is similar in function to metal plate.
  9. I used the padding stuff you can find at walmart. That mask was such a pain... Stuff/tools/equipment kept breaking lol. It was cursed
  10. It's been a while since I've been on the forums. Really busy you know. This is (some of) what I've been up to since the Gryphon Armor. More at http://Azmal.DeviantArt.com
  11. Well I got rid of the AS maul I had, not my speed... I might be interested in buying it if you dont want it anymore. PM me if you'd sell it cheap ; )
  12. Sounds great, I'd love to get it, email & pm sent
  13. Looking to find a good deal on one of these probably within the next 3-4 weeks Tippmann is now selling them for 750 and there's a referral thing for 100$ so 650 is pretty good but wanted to see if I could save even more finding one used. I heard they were crappy for belts, but I think I could make pretty good use of them on my armor. So if anyone hates their's, I want it. Any one know any other websites that I might try lookingat to find this?
  14. Good point, I imagine I could zone out with some nice educational or fictional audio books or some music while I worked on it. I love multitasking and efficiency. Any pointers on where to begin learning the cool lacing techniques? How much lace is needed usually? I've ordered a spool of calf skin lace but wonder how far that'd get me. Thanks for the input so far, I'm eager to try it out but I imagine I should make some more profit items before beginning a project for myself
  15. heh, thanks again. Have I ever mentioned how cool that eagle in your avatar is? the eye is -perfect-I'd love to try pictorial (that the right word) carving&painting sometime Beaver, you make those really sweet vests right? Is that something a novice in that field could pull off with careful attention to detail and some TLC? I'd love to try making myself one someday. I mean, I understand patterns and shaping. Braiding is still something I've never tried though, and that looks like the biggest part huh? That and the cool tooled panels. Are you willing to discuss your work?
  16. I also heard from a manager at tandy that they are discontinuing the boss in their stores and plan to introduce that new machine later this year. Supposed to be about the same price and deeper throat, and its supposed to address all the problems the tippmann boss had. I was thinking about saving up for one but I was able to find a like-new boss for $800 recently with several of the expensive of accessories. Didn't want to pass it up. I don't stitch all that often yet so it'll take a while to earn its keep but the convenience of having it is well worth it.
  17. I agree, I'm thinking strongly about darkening the helmet top feathers and I think it will make the important parts pop out better and not have the ruffled 'ticked off' look up top. The helmet seems to detract from the frontal section a little just a bit. And as for time, I'm not sure really sure. I kept pretty steady postings along the way with the armor cuz I found this site just before I started it I believe. Thanks again. Here are a couple pics with the visor in the opened state.
  18. Very cool. Is that the one pictured on the tandy site, or one inspired by it? Either way, its quite good. I've been tempted to try the design myself.
  19. Thanks, I forgot to mention the helmet face plate swings up as a visor.
  20. Thanks, and yeah, way too many spellings
  21. Well, looks like I'm finished but I'm afraid the helmet doesn't match the armor at all... its just... different. I may end up making a different helmet that fits the armor better if the client requests it. Which, I may add, will suit me just fine and I'll probably hang onto it. But anyway, here it is.
  22. Well, shaping the beak was a learning experience for me as well really. I ended up having to make a wood mold to stretch the leather and also note that I made a very rigid under-section of the beak of which you can see in the pic below. Also I included the actual beak section so you can make note of it if you wish.
  23. Thanks folks. It should be done quite soon now. And candy, I"m not quite sure what your asking me. Are you saying I should make a klingon face mask or something?
  24. yes, thats it, the pizza cutting one, the round knife. Actually I was thinking it might be used similarly to a pizza cuter in that you could 'wobble' it down where you wanted to cut, can it do this? Also does it have to be on a flat cutting surface to cut normally with it?
