Beautiful bag, Cheryl

I bought these boots on ebay to make boot purses out of the tops. I sent them to a friend of mine to cut the tops off. When I got them I realized they FIT me and it was too late to make them full length boots again, so I came up with this last night so I can wear them. The one that's finished looks really good in person. Pics just don't do it justice. Comments welcome. Cheryl

Allan I think it looks great! Cheryl

CM I think you did a beautiful job. The tooling, backgrounding and sewing are really good and the flowers are very attractive. Cheryl

If I was doing it I would run the end of the thread out the middle of the two straps after sewing it several times through the hole and around the edge. I certainly hope you're going to shoot for better sewing on the bottom than this company did. Cheryl

Mikey, beautiful job. Cheryl

Ray I'm so sorry to see this. Cheryl

It's called a night latch. You make three slits in your leather (or 15 if you want, depending on how long you want it to continue) and pull the long end of the leather through the first slit and going through on the same side on all of them, do the same on 2 and 3. It shows both sides of the leather that way. Cheryl

Jake another thing is you have to add meta tags to your heading so the search engines can find you. I used to have a tutorial on how to do that but have lost it over time but I think you should be able to find plenty some on the net. They have to be coded a certain way but the tags are easy, like for you they would be holsters, belts, leather etc. which makes you site pop up when people look for those things. Never mind I found another one someone gave me LOL. And you can find this info at http://www.htmlgoodies.com
this is an example for what one would look like. This goes between the <head> and <head> tags.
<head><meta name="keywords" content="riding gear, tack, horse tack, conchos, made in USA, hand crafted, bridles, reins" /></head>Sylvia found this for me last year when I was working on mine. and also recommended this.....It's a good idea to put a few misspelled keywords too. A lot of people these days are clueless when it comes to spelling. Theymay use rains, reigns, raynes, ranes halters, haulters, holters ... etc. In fact that's how I found so many diamonds onlineway back when. I saw. Dimons,Dymond, Daimond, Diamon, all misspelled. Ebay fixes the mistakes for you now... but back then they didn'tHope this helps because without these tags people can't find you. Cheryl -
Jake, someone recommended hostgator to me too, i just forgot until it was mentioned here. Cheryl

There are several videos on youtube that will help you with that Nessmuk1. Everything from what kind of leather to use to sewing machines. I hope this helps some. Cheryl

I've never resolened the inside of a project. I'm trying to think of something I can use for reference that would be similar to your project. Well belts, people sweat on their belts all the time and you just let them dry out. You don't resolene the back unless you've lined it with veg tanned. Cheryl

David I agree with Joe. I've never heard of a white dye that actually works. The white colors you see are leather that came white or have been painted. I use the same technique as Joe and use angelus paints. After it dries well and you seal it, it doesn't rub off. Your black dye could be another story. Seems it's the worst for having a rub off problem. Cheryl

That's too bad Jake. I need to build a new site too so I'll be following this thread. Have you checked out squarespace and, oh there's another one I've seen advertised. I haven't yet but I know they have web templates you can use instead of trying to build one from scratch. Cheryl

I shouldn't have spoken so soon. My messenger bag is chrome tanned not chrome xl and I've had no trouble with bleeding. Sorry to steer you wrong. But I don't understand why this is the top choice for wallets, etc. if it bleeds it's color? I have some noe I'm making into a wallet. Cheryl

I made my first and only messenger bag with chrome tanned leather and lined it with thin embossed veg tanned. It came out great and I'm not having any problems with stretch. It is rough out chrome if you look in my gallery, not the nicer excel. I think that would make gorgeous bags!!!!!Sorry don't know how to do footwear. Cheryl

I know these 'helpful' organizations are getting out of hand. The one here goes online and finds out what the going price is for something and that's what they charge. I found these on ebay for I think 12.00. If you check out ebay you can find nice ones cheap. I DIDN'T buy a pair of lizard skin today and I'm still kicking myself. ust don't settle. You'll see a lot of them, Dan what's his face, etc on there for 150.00. ust keep looking. If you spent 15 minutes looking a day I'm sure you'd find some nice ones. Cheryl
