  6. no bag punch here but i just posted a 12 pc set of hole punches 3/4"-1/8" i got em from an old leatherworker and never use em, they could use a good cleaning and 2 of the smaller ones still work fine but have a good amount of rust on the sides but i didn't wanna not include them id take 60 shipped if you are interested
  7. what kind of projects are you wanting to do, this depends on where to go.
  8. i just posted a great set of hole punches that will do 3/4"-1/8" and that will cover almost anything you will ever need to do lol, i have a beveler i can throw in for ya too, i was asking 70 obo but ill do 60 shipped with the beveler and i can throw in some needles and thread and some leather scrap if you would like. if you have a graveyard around you can probably get a piece of super thick granite to work on for free, i know mine had some laying around but it would be way too much to ship
  9. if the leather is cracking then try and using some neatsfoot oil to loosen up the leather and make it a little more flexible, the tanning process dries it out quite a bit and if the finish is cracking its probably too thick like they were saying, OR....i use the same dye you do and i wanted to chime in on a missed point, the oil dye will leave a residue on the surface of the leather, this must be buffed off before finish is applied or your finish will not stick properly. you can notice this when you use the black and darker colors even more, it will leave a grayish hue on the leather. buff it off really well and take your sheep wool and rub your finish on and don't use a dauber or anything to apply your finish or you will definitely have it too thick hope this helped
  10. depending on the leather you use you may not get the edges to come out as nice as you would like, get some samples. any upholstery type leather is going to have furry edges for the most part. it also depends on how many you want. if your going to be making thousands then u will need to buy some equipment. if you need hundreds then i would suggest finding the leather and making a pattern for it, then get a die made so you can have someone with a clicker cut the parts out of the leather for you, you will need to pay them for this service probably but you will get the most out of your leather and your edges will be a lot nicer and you may not need to edge bevel them. if your leather is thin then the beveling isn't going to do much anyways. the die will cost you maybe 50 bucks depending on the intricacy of the design. but the time you will be saving and the quality of your finished product is well worth it. if you try and cut out hundreds by hand with a utility knife you will not get those nice rounded corners. i have a keychain like this and it cost me like 40 bucks but i was supporting a local business that has made a big impact on the "fashion" industry and i was also trying to get my foot in the door with them for a few other projects. if you want to make these out of veg tan leather and dye them yourself you can get great looking edges also but then you have to make sure you dye them properly and finish them and even then you may have an issue with the color coming off so i would recommend looking around and seeing where you can get that same kind of leather from pm me if you have any more questions and ill call ya and answer anything i can good luck
  11. nobody ever comes to the southeast that i know of i have some of those pattern packs and I'm looking at getting a dvd. there is a lot you can learn from actually holding a finished piece in your hand or having someone teach you firsthand. i wish i could go to that class lol, a little too far

  17. $75 obo for quick sale!!!!!!!!!!!!! i want a new swivel knife so i may trade if you have a good swivel knife and blade for smaller to medium sheridan work, no angled blades please Got these from an older guy who quit leather working and i don't think I'm ever going to have a use for them. Sizes are from largest to smallest- 3/4" 5/8" 9/16" 1/2" 7/16" 5/8" 5/16" 1/4" 7/32" 3/16" 5/32" 1/8" thats 12 tools in all- obviously these are not new they all work great but 2 of them have some pretty bad rust on them, i did not try and clean them off so they may clean up really well but they are the 1/4" and 5/32" i have newer ones of these myself i know most people are going to want this set for the fact that it is basically every size u could ever need and also that the bigger punches are quite expensive as well as hard to find and i am pricing for a quick sale because i want a new swivel knife i also have a ceramic angled blade, 2 tandy straight blade (older and newer version) one is the newer black one and the other is an older silver one. i also have an unknown angled blade (looks like pretty good steel) as well as an older tandy head knife that i got in the hole punch collection. all of these are for sale also
  18. any pics that i can get to learn from would be much appreciated, i want to start on a binder for myself to keep all my pictures and patterns in. also i have a like new angled ceramic blade if anyone is interested, i don't even have a swivel knife to put it in because i have my beader blade in my cheepo tandy knife. 20 shipped to the us 48, pics available of course but it is as described, no chips and has not been sharpened or anything like that thanks
  19. good work, put me on the list when u wanna make another one )
  20. this was done with my angled blade, it being the only i have lol. i will be doing smaller floral in 4oz leather so what size blade do you recommend. from what i have been researching i have seen people using different sizes I'm looking into that cobalt blade because i have heard only good things about it but I'm up for whatever the pros recommend, i am familiar with your technique as far as turning the barrel and letting the knife do the work. it took practice but i love doing sheidan leaves and watching the knife do the work. especially when the cuts come out so nice, its almost addictive. lol definitely looking foreword to getting a new knife and blade and burning through some leather thanks
  21. i just always liked the angled blade because i could keep the swivel knife straight up and down, ill be trying out that cobalt blade and a new swivel knife soon. i guess i just need to try and step out of my comfort zone and try the straight blade again or maybe my blade is a little thinner than yours. how do you "manipulate" the blade for wider cuts? thanks guys
  22. I'm currently using one swivel knife for all of my work, i just got a beader blade from barry king and threw it on an old tandy swivel knife for now. my main knife is a stohlman with a hollow ground angle blade. I'm not getting that thick looking cut with it in my deco cuts so i was looking into getting another with another blade. I'm mostly doing sheridan so i wanted to know what you guys were using and what you recommend, blades and knifes. thanks
