All the pics look good so keep them coming, you need to chat with Sylvia about guitar pick holders!

And here's me thinking that was just a mould line. Saying that I had to get the dremel out to square off the outside so I can line them up and there was no V just an upside A .

Look up double boilers, used for melting chocolate and wax for candles. Idea is you're not directly heating the wax but using hot water to do it so you don't run the risk of setting fire to it.

As beautiful as the white rose you posted earlier. As a newbie to leather work I'm going to go out on a limb and ask if you've considered skiving the outside edges the of the petals to make them seem even more delicate?

Very realistic on the layering/offsetting of petals, had to Google white roses on seeing it just to appreciate fully.

First One Of This Design
AndrewMc replied to BWL's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Hate to be the one that says it but you missed a bit. It's from Al Stohlmans Project & Designs book, a friend used to have one of these years ago. The upper part where you've stitched the three pieces of leather together is supposed to have a gusset between to give more space for coins. When closed the part with the folded leather lip stops the coins falling out and when open gives you somewhere to sort through your change. After saying all that the book only shows it whip stitched so the double loop is nice as is the lack of any creases on the folded curved lip. -
New Wallets

Very nice, great look and finish to them. Have to ask, is the stitching by hand or machine? Either way it looks good, especially round the corner closures. -
Very nice. Bought a leather tankard a few years ago, one of the things that got me interested in leather working, always fancied trying to make one of my own. I've seen pine pitch on ebay but how much do you need? Heh, nearly posted a question about whether 3-4oz leather was strong enough for the handle when lifting a pint then realised it was 3-4mm time for bed methinks.

Colored Floral On Clutch Purse
AndrewMc replied to js5972's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Hi John, like the colouring on the flowers, you seem to have a good grasp on the eco-flo dyes. Got some myself but the little test pieces I've tried never seem to work always end up with a line between colours, you've got a good blend on the flower petals. My only point would be the petal that continues under the stitching on the left, the few pieces I've done I try and keep any carving inside the stitch line or lace holes, just seems neater to me. Know well what you mean with the kits and innards! Overall, looks good to me. -
Wow, great detailing topped off with great painting.

Following on from Stephan's post (can't find an edit button for my earlier one) I went down to my local Staples to check out the price of the pouches. Found A4 OHP transparencies as well, lucky for me there were some for copiers on end of line sales, picked up a box of 100 for £2.50 that I can use to hand draw/trace stuff with markers. Noticed that there were also ones available for laser and inkjet printers so you could print your own.

Love how you've done the horns and the colours are great.

Very nice with great lettering, that's going to make someone very happy. If you don't mind me asking, what did you use for the gold colour?

I like the laminating pouches idea. Been using tracing paper which of course starts warping as soon as it touches the wet leather and is no use if you want to do more than one of a design. I use different coloured highlighters to mark on the original where I think I need to bevel, shade etc while figuring a design out.

Hi Odin, I'm down on the South side between Sale and Baguley. Plenty of pics, WIP's and finished so I can look back and try and figure out what went wrong and when! I'll get some up on the critique section tomorrow.

Hi everyone, only joined a couple of days ago but been playing around with a Tandy Leather Craft set for about a year now as a hobby. Love the tooling/carving side of things so been doing a lot of drinks coasters for friends as practice and only recently got round to doing some proper small projects. Working off my coffee table so probably won't work up to anything too big. Thanks to all the people who've contributed, I spent most of a day at the weekend just looking through posts and trying to get some idea of how many ideas, tips and tricks you've been prepared to share.
