  17. Hi folks, There has been a fair amount of interest so I've taken a closer look at this, and here is the offer: Leather in Dark Havana or Light Havana Full Sedgwicks English Bridle 3mm Shoulder - 8-9 sq/ft Matching Lacing Hide - approx 1.7mm - 4 sq/ft 50 Yards of Lin Cable - Fawn, Beige, Brown, or Dark Brown (fineleatherworking.com for pictures) Round Liston Lock with approproate rivets Aluminum pre-cut handle bar Handle posts and rings Basic briefcase pattern printed out and rolled with the leather (paste onto pattern paper and cut it out) This is an opportunity I wish was available when I made my first case. Saving you from buying 30 feet of leather, a pound of rivets and 150 metres of thread, it also takes out the guesswork, the bits and bobs, the forgotten items, and the orders from multiple suppliers, not to mention a printed pattern. I believe I spent around $800 gathering materials for my first case, after which you will have some inventoried material. You will save some dollars on the square footage in this situation of course, and can make your own design. For those wanting to just test the waters and make a traditional English case I think this is a great opportunity. $320 USD plus shipping. I am based in Toronto, Canada. 2 available. Please PM. Cheers, Shane
  18. Hi there, I am moving next month and am downsizing in my shop. I am a casemaker using English Bridle. I am wondering if any of you interested in making traditional briefcases might want to purchase a kit I could put together for you: Bridle Shoulder 4 feet of lacing hide for gusset, handle, etc Yardage of Lin Cable thread, size 332 and some number 3 needles if needed Liston briefcase lock Briefcase pattern I am thinking this would be for a standard double document case I could probably make it work for those interested in a wrap case An example of the two case styles. If anyone is interested please let me know and I will take a look at how to make it work for your needs. Cheers, Shane
  19. These are 9 spi tools, 1 inch size. They produce fine stitches: Cheers, S
  20. Hello, As the title says, selling pricking irons as I have duplicates. The first is a Dixon Slimline and the second is a very nice quality vintage tool of unknown manufacture. The Dixon is a special order, retails at $92 from Booth and Co - i'll do 70% of cost, or $65. The second tool is very nice - I use a set of this brand, whatever it is, and prefer it to the Dixon - $65. Cheers, Shane
  21. I too have been looking, and as far as I know there is no lizard or croc/gator available from Canadian suppliers. Cheers, S
  22. Thanks for the kind words. WyomingSlick, the 'dongle' holds the key to the lock and is often referred to in the French as a 'clochard' thanks to its popularization by Hermes.
  23. Hi folks, Got a nice picture of a few of my cases I thought you may enjoy having a look at. A double document case in dark havana, a mini tablet sleeve in london, both bridle, and a card sleeve in a goat. Cheers, S
  24. Hi Charlie, Do you have an English supplier for Barenia whom you wouldn't mind sharing? Cheers, S
  25. Hi DavidL, thanks, I did not take an apprenticeship. The circle stitching is very easy, scribe, prick and stitch, no different than a straight line. Thanks Jason C. This is 3mm bridle - many will use the 4mm. Lighter on the gusset, those weights will not be bending. Stateside, Ken Chapman at 'Booth and Co' sells a similar bridle from England. I've made some straps from it, and for Americans I'm sure it's substantially cheaper and easier than ordering from across the pond. http://www.boothandco.com/ Hi Exuviae - the 'gussets' are fairly simple in theory. A three piece gusset (which is shown in several books, maybe even somewhere in Stohlman?) is constructed as usual, then wetted and folded with a bone (prepping for the 'concertina gusset'). Stitch in the partition, then the front and back. A bit of shaping and hammering and the bottom corners will fall into place nicely, (assuming everything has gone to plan).
