  1. I use the 3M spray glue which works well. The trick is getting an even coat, substantial enough without putting on enough to seep through. I like to apply it to my piece before it's cut down to size, cutting the leather with the attached lining makes for a nice cut on the linen or cotton. But for lining an already cut-to-size piece, does anyone have any suggestions on how to trim the liner effectively?
  2. Speaking of edging from the Hidepounder tutorial, it works great for me except that I can't keep the saddle soap from staining the leather. I apply finish to my piece before starting to burnish, and I try to use minimal saddle soap applied directly to my burnishing canvas, and wipe excess saddle soap from my piece as soon as I've finished burnishing the section and yet I still get stains. Any advice? This is primarily a problem on undyed veg tan. Cheers
  3. What do you use for the guts of your wallet? I like that style of card pocket. Fine work!
  4. Well I'll be damned. I've sewn more than a few yards over the last 6 months thinking I was threading it just like old Al told me too. I'd been tucking that pierced end through the bight before cinching down, creating a good sized knot. Thank you so much for you quick reply, today's project will go so much better with your help! S
  5. Hello all, I'm having a small problem that is becoming very frustrating. I've switched from Tandy's thin poly thread to their thicker waxed linen (not sure on size comparison, there are 5 cords when I unravel though). When I tie it onto my Tandy harness needle the knot formed doesn't pull through the hole my stitching awl (Osborne no56) makes. I'm forced to pull it through with pliers, breaking thread, undoing the knot, and ruining the flow of a nice hand stitch. Any tips on making a smaller knot or tapering the cord? Thanks for your help! S
  6. Love the wallet. I'm looking at making first classic billfold and was curious what you did to make the wallet guts? Shane
