I just took delivery of some equipment from you...the Cobra class 14 splitter is a dream....you know I was actually consider a band knife splitter but Im sooooo glad I went with your spliiter!!! The machine is absolute quailty and that D-2 blade was done by some caring hands...I have done Tool and Die work all my life I know what it takes to grind a lengthy piece of D-2 like that! Hi Folks, A few posts ago I had a rant about JRM Clips...it was the culmination of lost emails, a dropped order and later it was an email address mishap which got me on a roll. Since then I have gotten two orders from them and the quality is top notch and the price is fanatstic too; If you can buy in bulk the pricing is even better. It seems they have turned things around at JRM Clips and I will continue to buy from them! I have sourced other clips in the past, but JRM, is in my opinion is the best to buy. The finish is good, it is a thicker clip than what I have bought in the past from other vendors; they are well packed, and the customer service is great....I personally deal with "Beth" and she has taken good care of me since my embarssing rant!

I dont undertand them....I ordered several thousand clips and they said they would invoice me when they had them made up...well about 2-3 months later I check to see what's going on and they said they never had my contact information ( BULL-CRAP!) But they said they would invoice me right away...however after repeated phone calls and emails they still have not even invoiced me!! How on earth do they stay in business??????? Does anybody have a decent supplier out there for metal clips who is not hitting a crack pipe???

With only scan reading the posts, I can tell you my experience with alibaba. Much of it is website for Chinese hardware... I have bought a few things through various suppliers, one product was 100,000 pieces it took a few days for my supplier to make them but once finished and was shipped through DHL, it left Hong Kong and was on my door step with in 26 hours here on the east coast of the U.S.....as to my supplier on Alibaba I would not hesitate to buy from them again

Hi, Can anyone tell me how much they pay for tubular rivets and caps from Weaver leather.... say about 20k at a time? I have a business but Im wondering if it's worth the effort to open an accont with them, it their prices only nuke my effort to do so. Lastly, does anyone know the price of their hopper feed rivet machine? Thanks!

Hi Marj, It looks likes its missing every now and then either he is trying to click it again before the clutch reengages or it needs adjustment....a quick adjustment can be made in the handle arm, by slightly adjusting it in or out or slightly bending it...those machines were designed to be within a range of height cutting board and die....stll a lot of adjustment there! Power off the machine if you feel its in the machine and not the operator cycling it too fas....t adjust the arm and cycle the machine over by hand...make sure you have the power off!...cycling by hand will tell you if your adjustment will allow it to go over a complete cycle without jamming the linkage..if it jams just reverse it slightly and readjust the arm until you get it to completely cycle

OP I have a USM model C clicker too...I love the machine...those mechanical clickers just keep going and going....they can be a safety hazard as someone mentioned if you get forget where BOTH hands are...If it doesn't have it, you could probably fashion a handle, which would block the linkage to trip the machine's flywheel, thus keeping the other hand out of the way, it would require it to be on the handle each time you ran it over....If you need some pictures of the linkage setup I could get some for you. Dot be afraid to purchase this machine...you can easily test it without power to it...first see if the flywheel will turn clockwise by hand when facing the machine, if so, make sure it has stopped and then trip the lever/handle in front, which disengages the clutch then turn the flywheel again slowly by hand and it should make a stroke downward and then back up and you will hear the clutch reengage, after which the flywheel will be just a little bit easier to turn by hand...if it performs this basic function you have a good machine!

Hi, Thanks guys! I tried to pull some of the thread through a rag soaked with denatured alcohol several times....It worked a little bit better but every now and then it still gave me trouble. I will step down to a 207 thread Thanks again!

Hi folks, I have a Juki 441 clone and was wondering how in the world can a paerson sew with wax thread? The machine handles everything I have thrown at it up to 346 but I was needing to use some 277 pink thread but all I could find was waxed....I know from learning in this forum that wax thread gives fits in sewing machines but I tried it anyway and it was a 100% pain in the rear. Does anyone know wax thread can be used in the machine? Perhaps soak the thread in a " thinner" of some sorts to strip away the wax? Thanks

Hi Ramrod, I use the thread exchange quite a bit, but eh best I could find was 207, I'm pretty sure they would probalby have it in a waxed thread, but from what I have discovered waxed thread does strange "juju" while sewing with a machine. I tried replying to you well over a week ago, but it would not allow me to post a reply....or maybe my computer was acting up....anyway sorry about that! All the best!

Hi, I know this has been asked before, But I hope the information has changed since then. Does anybody know where I can find larger thread colors in red and other colors in sizes 277 and up? I know weaver leather has 277, but they want a tax ID number etc. but I'm just dabbling part time I dont quite have that commitment to go that far yet. All the best!

Hi everyone, Does anybod out there have any experience with S-T leather in St Louis? I spoke to them today on the phone, while they were very helpful it was however a bit of a struggle communicating since english was not a primary language with the person on the other end of the phone. I buy from a lot of various suppliers and one fellow was out of an item, so I thought I would give S-T a trial run.... I hope it will be a pleasant experience. Hi Copbadge, I was recently in Ohio on some company related business with sewing machines and automobile floor mats ( sewing the binder material on)... anyway, the machines were Juki's 1510's and they had a fancy servo motor which had some simple programable features, for such things such as backtacking a certain amount of stitches etc etc...these machines had an auto thread cutting feature too. While we were only using bonded 69 thread, these machines were similar to the material capabilites of a Singer 111W155. or the Consew equivelant walking foot machines But 1/2 of leather would have probalby have been too much for these machines....more like 3/8 ths of an inch of leather.... With 135 x 16 needles, these jukis were zipping through 20 ounces of floor mat material with ease but as you probably know leather is a whole different beast.... However, if you are happy to stay around 3/8ths thickness, and use 138 thread, then check out those Juki 1510's ....I was impressed by them... they had auto thread winders too.... All the best! Too Bad I could not buy it, it was in the State Museum in Columbia South Carolina, it was part of a larger Textile display, describing the importance of textiles and the larger, older cotton mills....I could only think this machine was used for sewing those large leather line shaft belts which everything ran off of in textile plants at the turn of the century..pre 1920's It had an oiler pot on top for the thread...by its age it had to handle some big Linen thread! This mahine was on a large cast Iron bed over 4 foot long....the sewing machine itself was about 4 foot long and the area between the needle and the column was approching two feet if not so....the machine itself stood about two feet tall and it had two step pullies on the hand wheel side of at least 16 inches or better....I could not find the Singer logo on it but it had the tell-tell singer look, however I found the model number, right where Singer always puts them....it was a 5-10 I snapped a cell phone picture of it...I wish the lighting was a bit better...but it was the best I could do....it was a remarkable machine....no telling what thickness it could sew ">

Hi Iron, I dont know what thickness of leather you plan on sewing but here is my thoughts,processes and learning curves on a singer 111w155: I went through the same process with a singer clutch motor recently on my 111w155, and machined out a small pulley of about the same diameter on the motor ( driven) side but still felt the clutch motor was a bit fast for me.....you see I lacked the experince and thought "Hey this sewing stuff doesnt require a bit of skill"...but boy oh boy was I wrong....I simply could not control that clutch motor at the much slower pace it was running at...so I opted for a cheapo servo motor from ebay and essentiually got ripped off by the clown who sold me a 550 watt motor and when it arrived was a 400 watt motor! Anyway instead of trying to return things and fighting the shipping price war I settled into trying to make things work....so I grabbed a 12 inch pulley and machine another 2 inch pulley for more reduction and mouting them on a shaft with some cheapo pillow blocks....well to make a long story short I put a digital tachometer on it to measure the rpms and I had some success, I can go as slow as 8 rpms to about 600 rpms will a full and gradual range of motion to the foot pedal... As a side note, what did I learn from the experience?: First I got hosed for a crappy dude in LA on the servo motor combined with ebay antics...so it was a losing battle to even fight returning the SH*!. Second there are people here who can really help you for a few pennies more....Yes I wished I had bought one of Toledo Bob's gear reduction motors and could have forgone all of the things I had done with down time, modifications, pullies etc.. But lastly,I discovered people are actually right on this forum about a singer 111w155 being is good for about 3/8 of leather and about 138 thread without undue hardship on the machine....sure I was able to sew with 277 thread and more consistently with 207 thread but it was putting undue hardship on a machine and bobbin case. So now Im back to reality.... I will keep my 111w155 at 138 thread with maybe the max of 207 for short runs and save my pennies for a real leather sewing machine from Toledo bob....I have never spoken to the guy but quite frankly he has done the most to help me out ( and among a few other folks here) and personally I've got to respect a guy like that who goes out of his way to help newbies like myself. Thanks everyone, those links and information really helped....lol I was going through Singers long list of PDF's trying to ID it. Double C, This is a local Craigslist listing, the folks are wanting 10 dollars for it! But as you say it does look like some possible modifications have been done...I asked the lady if she has sewn with it but she said no, but does rememeber her aunt sewing with it before it was given to her....but we all know how some of those ols sewing machine stories can go...lol. In another photo of the back of the machine the Singer logo is styill there but a bit tattered. Hey what the heck, why not for ten bucks...afterall what does ten bucks buy you nowadays??? I would rather spend it on this than a hamburger in a local greasy spoon. Thanks, Gavin

Wiz, one day I will grab a cowboy machine just like the one you have there...until then it looks like Bob has finally swung me over to the 42...now if I can! up the road on the next day or two. Hi folks Thanks for the information,that actually helped alot it appears the flywheel on the 42 series allows smooth sailing on thick leather but also appears the machine would possibly take a pounding on size 277 and beyond. I have a fairly robust Singer 111w155 and have tweaked it enough to sew with 277 but the bobbin case is taking a pounding so I quit doing so and dropped down to 207 which makes me feel better knowing I can sew with it knowing I'm not beating my machine to death. I would really hate to buy that old Singer knowing I would only beat it to death pushing it past its limits. I guess I will continue to save my pennies! All the best, Gavin

Hi Folks, I know this is another one of those Singer 42 threads...I promise this will be my last one. I need to ask any owners of the Singer 42's, in particular Singer 42-5 owners, what thickness of leather they have sewn with theirs and what size thread? In the previous thread Wiz reccomended not much more than 277 thread, and I can agree, but where I'm suffering from is the actual experience from being behind the machine....so I've got to ask, does the machine seem to handle 277 nylon without a whole lot of grief of does it seem like the sewing machine is trying to tear itself apart. I would really like to give this machine a go for at least a year or two until I can gather the funds for a nice 441 style Cowboy machine....but I would hate to purchase this Singer and it not hold up to the task of using 277 thread in about 3/8th inch of leather Here is a photo of the beast: Any and all help would be a great help! That really explains it a bit clearer for me....sorry for the dumb questions, I'm learning as I go So what really holds this machine back is the needle availability and spare parts....I'm willing to chance it on spare parts....either make them or scour the earth for them So If I keep my thread size down to 277 it looks like the # 25 needles will work.
