  6. Yay for you! ..and Yay for Juneau! Cant be cheap to get leather supplies there ;] I worked at the Glacier Bay Lodge over in Gustavus a couple of summers ago. Now just trying to convince my since-acquired husband to go back with me, haha! I can see how beveling would help with the lace, though I dont think I would have thought of it right of the bat either. Keep it up, looking good! What breed do you show?
  7. If you wanted to do some tooling, would that be possible during the drying stage on the form? ..maybe a harder wood than pine would be needed. Also, you just stain, then wax? No other finish?
  8. the need has been met, thanks all for emailing!
  9. Hi! I'm fairly new. I've done a couple of projects stain and all out of a tandy kit, and I was just wondering about alternative, more natural finishing. Is it possible to just apply a wax or some sort of oil and just leave it at that? (no stain or finish) Or is that taboo? Also are there any waxes or oils that have some sort of stain/dye in them? Any and all info much appreciated!
  10. In regards to spraying on dyes, must one use a compressed-air sprayer, or is there a hand-pump alternative (like a fine misting spray bottle)?
  11. what...is it? just a triangular satchel?
  12. Hi there! I'm fairly new to leatherworking, not skilled or prepared (tool-wise) enough to take on a project I would really like to get done for my husbands and my anniversary on June 19. He is a chef, and more specifically a butcher...so he has his special knives, and they are big. Right now he uses a canvas rollup sort of case thing (imagine a big pencil holder like on the side of a bag). Being a butcher, his favorite of all meats is pork. My vision is something like a large wallet, tri or even quad fold with a buckle or even quick-release snap closure, with a carving on the outside flap of the side view of a pig with the cuts of meat (attached picture)...but I would like the words of the areas (shoulder, loin, jowl, belly, etc) actually on the area of the cut instead of the numbers. If you are interested please send me an email, and I can take pictures and measurements of his existing knife case...I'm not sure how much something like this should cost, I was thinking around 150? my email is howl.anne@hotmail.com.
