    thanks again

  2. Hi Joe

i put a 40mm pulley on the motor at first which really slowed things down, and of course when using a light right foot, but the real difference cam when i swapped my clutch motor with a machine engineer and a small amount of cash for one of his new serrvo units, works a treat now....

good luck, i prayed daily that i would finish the working day with all my digits intact before the servo arrived....

    Al

  3. it might be leather spew,

which happens when the tallow or fat liqours which are (used to replace the lost leather fats whilst it was worked in the tannery, making it supple again) these can distabalise and rise to the surface,

they feel slightly greasy and are difficultto remove and keep down, if it is spew you need to apply a stabalisng solution, then it will be back to normal.

thats is of course if it is spew

  4. i saw something similar a while back, its just if i can explain without making it confusing, i'm god at that. confusing that is.

if i remember rightly, they used thinner leather on the outer skin, sewed a line, placed either string or a small plastic rod against the sewed line and slightly strecthed the thin leather over the rod, then sewed that down the side. result slightly raised on teh fron almost no bulge on the inner as the outer thinner leather is stretched over rod, and backing is flat. clear as mud........ I think

  5. different chemicals often help to soften and remove some glues,

acetone often works well for super glue,

naptha, hexane, mineral spirits etc, can help to soften some rubber cements

its gonna be try it and see, but only put small blobs of the the blob of glue, wait see if it softens. can sometimes take a lon time to soak in.......

tial and error I'm afraid especially as the glue in unknown.......

  6. tottally agree with dirtclod..... the other part is most people in business will only use their name recommending someone else when they know their service and products are not going to put their own business name at risk........ years to build one minute to wreck.... sort of thing.......

show your work and start selling it, your customer base and confidence will build......sometimes it can happen quickly but mostly it.takes time I'm afraid....

  7. i have been working with various chemicals, for cleaning and stripping finishes off leather etc for years, uptill today i have used disposable masks, when i could be bothered.... friday last i spent the second day that week using high vapour chemicals in a very well ventilated room, on friday night through saturday it effected me unlike before, raging head ache felt sick, a little short breath, dizzy irratable, etc etc....... it has now worn off, but has got to be down to not using effective protection.

i have today now ordered a proper dust and acid/chemical vapour filtrating mask.....

time will tell if any problems present themselves can only just hope it doesn't, but my fault if it does........

next week onwards, any chemicals including glue, its put on the mask......
