They are; 3' guitar strap template set "fat boy" (opened but not used) Shield style buckle and billet set Classic english point set Common slot size gauge Radius end set Rifle/Shotgun sling set (un-opend) All in great condition, I only use my templates to draw round, never cut round so the edges and surfaces are as new. £50 posted within the UK, sent via First class recored mail. Payment by bank to bank or Paypal please. Thanks for looking, Ian
  7. For sale is my KME knife sharpener. Used to keep my leather working knives maintained as well as my working knives. The rough stone is no longer in the kit as it's a total waste of time, you will see in the stone holder a strop I made which is very handy. Overall in good used condition. The little rubber protectors are prone to slip when setting up the knife blade but I think this is a common thing, I worked with it but a little glue would fix it up. Once the knife is clamped its solid. £55 posted within the UK, sent via Recorded first class mail. Payment by bank to bank or Paypal please. Thanks for looking, Ian

  11. I've decided to sell on my Singer 29k58 sewing machine, thought there might be a few on here who would be interested so before it goes on the bay I'm putting it up on Leather Worker.net, its also up on another forum I'm part off. Condition wise its solid in terms of action and makes a nice stitch, it was bought from a sewing machine seller in Walsall who deals and restores in vintage and modern sewing machines, fully serviced prior to me picking it up. Since then its been oiled and the only modification has been to move the hand wheel to the rear which is a more natural position. The paint work shows its age, no rust that I can see apart from a nice patina on the external surfaces. It will come with some new needles, three spools, the threading rod and a variety of bonded nylon 20 and 40 thread plus a few others I've tried, most unused or only a few meters or so used off the real. As you can see the paintwork and external surface's could be improved, perhaps those with time who might want to bring it back to its former self may be interested in this for a project, aside from that its a great machine still so for those that want a solid working unit you won't be disappointed. Its a heavy item so pickup only or I can meet within say 50mile of s70. If you know a courier service that you trust them by all means I'm open to the idea. Reason for sale is I just prefer to hand stitch, if I was making things on mass then id keep it and especially webbing jobs as with a change of needle it would be an excellent tool for it. Price wise I'm looking for £300 ono, will leave on here for a week or so, please ask away with any questions. Thanks for looking, Ian
  12. Acrylic's might be a better choice if the project allows. got to remember to take into account the colour of the leather so say if you paint a white wall red, two coats should see it right but if you paint a biscuit brown wall red your going to get a dirty red unless you use the right paint. with leather the more you apply if its pro oil or spirit it will get darker unlike with acrylics which will build up until the desired colour is achieved. "colouring Leather" by Al Stohlman is a good read for this type of thing.
  13. Has a nice Art Deco feel to it
  14. Hi There, If you look at the end of the posts you can see the indent, this is what helps the cap grip to the stem when you set it, by removing this your not only crimping the end your also removing the bit that makes it work. regarding the machine and the finish your getting, try ease off a tad. when you set by hammer you not only strike vertically but also around the sides, maintaining the dome and setting it tight, but not that tight that the post shows. bit of a knack to it and I'm not sure if the machine will have that sort of care and attention. Keep at it varying the pressure, testing the fit and finish until your happy. Like the look of the thing though what's the delivery times on it? With that said I personally don't go above the medium double or single caps. for me they are more decretive than a permanent fixture (unless you got the traditional route of the washer and brass rivet) so when strength is needed ( had a few fail on me so learned the hard way) and a thicker item is needing that sort of fixture I go with a Chicago screw. Hope that helps along the way, Ian
  15. Swivel knife and a set of ball end modelling Styluses
  16. Barehand is right, Always good practice to not store the knife in the sheath for long periods or if you live in a high humid location its best to keep it out until use. Obviously brings a storage issue for the user as in "so where do I put it then" but when all said and done knife owner ship is down to the owner, not the sheath maker and providing you have done all you can to prevent the issue there is little more you can do other than advise on good storage. Proper oil for the blade is a must, one that's food safe as the last thing you want is some nasty oil which protects the sheath but ultimately rots or breaks down the leather. worth looking into for what's available near you to advise your customers.
  17. @Barehandcustoms, seems a route you have tried also with some frustration, its the colour that pops out, don't get me wrong I can get good finish on my items but like a good thread that stands out on the sheath or belt so does the colour of this stuff,hmm.... The things I make mainly are for hard use too which is a big worry given that so far the best I've got down the leather is a mm at best, I nic of the blade is all that's needed to expose the unstained leather. kind of come to the same conclusion also I guess, use only on simple items, card holders and so on. @grump, What kind of depth are you getting with the Eco Flow Pro? Many thanks for your replies gents, Ian
  18. Hello Forum, I've been experimenting with water based stains of late for my items using veg tan leather, My dye of choice been Pro oil dye however a conversation with my leather supplier led me to look at the water based stains as an alternate. The first thing that I noticed was the poor penetration compared to the pro oil so some experimenting went on, still with unsatisfactory results. The colour of the brand I used though was fantastic, in this case it was raven black and probably the best black I've seen to date. what do members here use as their "go to" product when working with water based stains? Best regards, Ian
