  1. Thanks I've gathered all that. As i said I came up with a pattern but didn't workout quite as I was hoping and I'm currently working on a redesign. In the meantime was looking for input from others for maybe dimensions and the like. I've noticed others ask for help with patterns and also include pictures for examples to which they could also use as reference but a printable reusable pattern such as the ones that Tom produces would be nice with the cut lines dimensions etc included to be able to use over and over.
  2. Any ideas or can anyone point me in the right direction where I might be able to find patterns like this?
  3. I'm looking for a minimalist wallet pattern like the examples below. I came up with one but didn't workout like I had planned and asking for some help since I'm new to leatherwork. Any help would be appreciated.
  4. Sorry for the noob question here but the application of the oil is essentially to take the stiffness out of the leather? Also, I assume that applying dye over say the evoo is no problem as well?
  5. Curious about this as well since I will be making some wallets from 3/4
  6. Not to thread jack but what size thread from Makne would work good for hand sewing wallets?
  7. What size pricking irons and what size thread would be a good starting point?
  8. Thanks for the replies so far. Any advice on needle/thread size? If like to place my order as soon as possible so I can get started. Thanks!
  9. I am prepping to make a few wallets for Christmas presents. They will be chain wallets and I will be using chainmail chains thst I am weaving myself as well. I have a few leather projects under my belt but want to make sure I have the supplies necessary to get the job done so here is my checklist what should I add/drop from the list? Edge beveler Edge kote Resolene neutral finish Feibings oil dye Groover for stitches Not sure what else I need for edge treatment. Some saddlesoap? Then burnish then edge kote? I'm not sure what size and kind of needle and thread to get. I will be hand stitching. Any advice here? I'm also unsure if I want to get pricking irons or an overstitch and awl?? I do have the basic tandy beginner tools but the tools listed above are not included in that Kit. I will be ordering from SLC I'm wanting to make a minimalist style wallet. I've included a picture of one. I'm not copying this but it's the style I'm going for. I'm currently working on a design. I was thinking 4-5oz for outside 2-3 oz for inside and 1.5 pig or fabric for the liner. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  10. I checked out Tandy. I assume the bevelers you are speaking of are the Craftool Pro? There are 4 of them. Which one do you feel would be best to start with? I'm thinking either the 2042 or the 2043
  11. Billymac, thanks for the info man. I'm not too far away from you I'm in Bloomsburg. You ever travel up this way doing any of the gun shows? I checked out your page, you do some awesome work.
  12. Thanks for the info fellas. I guess I never really thought of Anvil embossing the leather. Christian does some crazy work as well and both styles are more along the lines of what I would like to get to. Smooth clean detailed lines. I also thought about the screwdriver as a matter and will start playing around with that and check out the new bevlers as well and see what I can do.
  13. I'm new new leather working. Did a few small projects with the goal of eventually tooling a seat for my bobber I am working on. I like smooth crisp lines such as the pictures below. It doesn't look, to me anyways, that the lines are beveled. What would be my best way to get smooth lines like this? Thanks for any input that can help this noobie out.
