  1. Bob, It needs work mostly cleanup and cosmetic and then I will see what I really got but that kinda price I just had too. Guy wasn't sure motor worked but I lookedat the motor off the blind stitch is actually a 1/2 hp tech sew clutch motor darn near brand new so I am looking good. I know very little about sewing machines(yes I see you sewing machine gurus cringing ) but mechanical I am pretty good I have redone two landis G and a 29-4 and all are working fine so far so just another adventure at a good price Ross
  2. Ok gang here is what I picked up. It is a 226 I paid $75 dollars for. IT needs cleaned up and is missing part of the foot. I am betting as I go over I will find more things it needs. I couldn't pass it up for that kind of money. I had just passed on a 206r at auction that went for $650. I welcome opinions and Bob do you sell parts?Ross
  3. Thanks Bob that was exactly what I was looking for infowise Ross
  4. Gents, I have the chance to pickup a consew 226 It is as near as I can tell an older machine. Needs some cosmetic cleanup. Is this of any use for leather. I found it is a walking foot and it picksup 1/2 inch. It looks a lot like a 206 to me. Just looking for some opinions on it I have a tech sew 1/3 hp clutch motor. Not sure it would work but I have it. The reason I have that motor is due to a us blind stitch machine I bought at auction for the massive sum of $7 dollars. I have no use for a blind stitch bt couldn't pass up a table and a motor at that price. Thanks for any thoughts Ross

  8. Hi folks, I have a champion 77 and and auto sole nibbler for sale. I am open to offers. The nibbler i cleaned up and painted black. The 77 i also cleaned and painted. The 77 had tabs broken off the lubricant pot i fixed that. Both work to the best of my knowledge but I dont know much about them. Drop me a line with any questions. Thanks Ross

  10. Anyone at least have a link to the adler site in english? Trying to make sure this is a lockstitch machine and walking foot. Thanks Ross
  11. Hi Folks, In my continuing adventure of leather sewing I came across a Durkopp adler 291 N . I know nothing about them but from what I am told it can sew up to 1/2 leather. I am doing mostly sheath work. of the price is right on this type of machine would it work or be worth it? Any thoughts welcome Thanks Ross
  12. Wiz and Billy, Thanks so much for the replies it was a big help!! I agree on the autosoler, nibbler and the champion mckay 77. I will most likely sell off those three machines. Just got to figure out what they are worth . I checked with shoe systems plus on the blades and found they have them in stock and I got prices too! Good to know when I need them they are out there. Ross
  13. Hi folks, I have been reading this site for a few months now and picked up some great information. Thanks. I have been making leather sheaths for knives I make for some time now. In the past I have only used basic tools, awl, overstitch wheel, edge tool and groover. I always hand stitched with two needles and waxed thread. Now I have started to get more serious and buying all kinds of machines and learning as I go. In the process I picked up several shoe machines. I know these arent what is recomended for doing sheaths but the price was right and I gave them a whirl. I have a landis 12g actually two of them, a champion 77, a nibbler and a autosoler(contenintal 8). Of all those only the 12 g has seemed of use to me, I made a wood table and I am able to stitch the edge of sheaths with little effort. What I will do with the other machines I am not sure yet. I also picked up a 29-4 singer treadle machine. Here is my questions. If I want to get thread/cord for the Landis 12g what should I be buying?? From what I can tell i need linen but what size 5, 6, 7 ??? also I have no idea what right twist and left twist mean. As for the 29-4 where do I find thread for that and what do I need if I want to sew patches on leather? again do I need linen and what size needles. I hope someone can help me clear up the confusion. I have tried and failed to get a hold of pilgram a couple times, another place I talked to only did wholesale. so any help you folks could give would be great. I also picked up a landis spliter model 30 and also a landis 3 in 1 machine. Anyone know how expensive it is to replace the blads on those machines?? Thanks for any help I have no sewing background so this is all knew to me. Ross
