One Great Gross that's a neat one. I could see it on a cheapo keeper like that. Here is a picture of the staples and a few in a hunk of scarp. As you can see nothing huge here. No Idea what I might do with it. as you can see some of the staples are rusty. Still a neat tool and I have a bit of a tool habit.

Thanks bruce and Nv! Bruce I think I may actually have the staples that go with it they are a lot smaller then what I have seen on belt keepers. I can see it used for a bow for sure. I will play with it and when I get a chance I will post a pic of the staples. Ross

Hi folks, Recently I bought some tools from a shoe makers shop. This was one of them and I have no idea what it is..it was an add on to some of the other stuff I bought. My guess it has something to do with staples based on the two posts and the anvil looks like a stapler anvil on a common household stapler. The only marking is USM so I assume shoe machine. Anyone have any idea??? Ross

They look great! I really like the red thread with the black and green on the one. I do have a question, the Colt and Sig logos/name. How does that work do you need permission from the company to do that? I had the question come up in regards to making some box tops and if I could put colt or other gun names on it. Hi Folks, I've been meaning to post these for a bit now. I thought you guys would like a look. Both were made from tandy patterns. These were special items to two guys who belong to a hunting camp. The initials that got carved in were on carvings on the table at hunting camp. I had a friend help me with these two he worked on one I worked on the other. Never tried a leather hat before it was an experience. The taller hat we put a piece of sheep skin inside with a fly on it for fly fishing. We did it for fun since he likes to fly fish Enjoy and thanks for looking Ross

Hi Folks, I have been playing around with carving so I thought I would post a picture of something I did today. I did this using a craftaid template at least part of the template. Hi Folks, I have been toying around with making custom stamps. I know that magnesium setups are used. But I am wondering how the polyurethane embossing plates/stamps are being made. I have considered Cnc engraving/routing machines but seems like there is a simpler way they are being made. Its way out of my department but I am curious how it is done. Ross

raz, I played with the rare earth magnets but I haven't found a way I like to attach them so it looks pretty too. I don't have them lined inside and its veg tan leather....hmmm

Karl, I debated that. I have a leather pack I use that I put snaps on. problem with the snaps is if you don't have something inside it the snaps don't snap well. I have been trying to figure a better closure. Any thoughts??? Thanks for the kind words guys Ross

I have to admit I am debating the braided too. Almost wonder if it cheapens the rest of it. It is functional for the add ons but hmmm food for thought. Hi Folks, Just thought I would post a few of the wet molded fly fishing chest packs I made. All are made of leather I know that is shocking. Ok all kidding aside I wet formed the leather and braided the straps out of leather lace. I went with braided because you can easily add all the accessories that fly fishers want like tipper holders(also included is a picture of a tippet holder I came up with out of leather lace), zingers, etc. Size on these guys runs 7" wide 1.5" deep and 4.5" tall Always looking to improve would love to hear some feedback. Well folks I got the machine back from the pro and it was well worth it. Sewing like a champ now. Well worth the $75 charge. So today I worked on building a speed reducer with pulleys. Now even with the clutch motor I think I have it slowed down enough to be useful for my amateur abilities. So for even with the $75 charge I am into this adventure around$180 I don't think I can complain too much about that. In fairness the speed reducer I built with pulleys and bearings I had laying around. I also have a metal lathe at my disposal to build the shaft I needed. But all in all I am real happy with the machine now

Ok I punted. Found a sewing machine repair and dropped it off today. Will see what happens!!!R

Hi Folks, So I have found time to get back to messing around with the 226. Here is where I am at after replacing a few minor parts I cant get the thing to stitch. Here is the problem the loop off the needles isn't very loop like and the hook off the bobbin is not catchin it. I cant figure it out. I am trying to use 92 thread and I tried a size 18 needle and a size 19 needle. I don't know if it is a needle issue or a timing issue or what. I am open to thoughts. I think I am going to have to find a mechanic to check it over and see what the deal is and fix it. I don't think anything is broken I just think I cant see the issue might be. On a side note anyone else not able to use then enter key when doing a forum post. mine doesn't work on the forum but on anything else it is fine?? Take care Ross

Never would have guessed you liked yours. I got into it tonight and it is cleaning up really well so far. I found the other part of the walking foot along with lots of types of walking feet...bad news looks like water was an issue on part of this machine.. ie the motor and the drawer. The drawer where the accessories including all the feet was wet and goopy, I cleaned them up and will see if they are any good. while I am sure the base and motor etc were drowned the head I don't thing was just dirty and perhaps over oiled. The dark areas cleaned off with some elbow grease and simple green. Undead thanks for the comment on the feed plate and what you do I started thinking about what I need for that tonight. Bob, It needs work mostly cleanup and cosmetic and then I will see what I really got but that kinda price I just had too. Guy wasn't sure motor worked but I lookedat the motor off the blind stitch is actually a 1/2 hp tech sew clutch motor darn near brand new so I am looking good. I know very little about sewing machines(yes I see you sewing machine gurus cringing ) but mechanical I am pretty good I have redone two landis G and a 29-4 and all are working fine so far so just another adventure at a good price Ross

Ok gang here is what I picked up. It is a 226 I paid $75 dollars for. IT needs cleaned up and is missing part of the foot. I am betting as I go over I will find more things it needs. I couldn't pass it up for that kind of money. I had just passed on a 206r at auction that went for $650. I welcome opinions and Bob do you sell parts?Ross
