  1. ya that's the site I eventually found myself today and went from there. I only get little bits of time here and there to look into stuff
  2. appreciate that...im kind of a perfectionist when it comes to stuff like this so when I'm done I can say, I couldn't have matched it any closer. Best I have found, looks like I'm close, but its 3 pear shaders close together. i see the decorative cuts as well. Charles Bronson had the same hat band.. Bronson's pictures are way better, thank God for reused movie props.
  3. Thank ya Sir! Ya that's basically what I used (p367) but from the pictures I can find that arn't super grainy some of the leaves looks like it has what I did and some are completely shaded in. maybe they are alternated? I cant really tell, just shooting from the hip
  4. in case anyone is interested, I was messing around with it today after work trying to figure it out. I think the camo tool is the right one but the little leaves need more experimenting. From different pictures I've looked at some of the leaves look like they have thumb prints thru them like i did and some look completely shaded in with a pear like chuck123wapati mentioned... haven't been able to tell if there are any decorative cuts or not from pictures.
  5. ya i finally sat down an just drew it up. I was trying to be lazy
  6. exactly! Damn man you whipped that out quick.
  7. gonna see if i can take the pick i got from the internet and pull it into photoshop and pull a pattern from it. Ya it really looks way different to me from the other one they are selling.
  8. see i cant tell enough if its a rope look or they just went down it with a camo tool, and the other hat from the seller Dwight posted looks completely different to me. Its probably going to be one of these deals where i have to just find as many pictures on google from as many angles as i can and just do my best to redraw it. Just figured Id check here first (incase someone has already done the hard part)
  9. Good, that means I'm not yet completely blind lol
  10. the feller i did the holster for is making me a new felt. Forgot to mention he was a custom hat maker. Nothing like a little trading work
  11. I appreciate that. The one they have on the hat they are selling looks different to me. Seems like the one from the movie had ridges or like a camouflage tool was used all the way around the vine. The carving also looks different to me.
  12. Thank you, I appreciate the praise from ya'll. Ya, he was pretty happy with it, which also makes me happy. No there is not toe plug, I never liked those because of the fact that dirt or other stuff can get down in there and sit and its difficult to clean out. I ended up having to make my own wide lace to go on it, cause he wanted it modeled after the main holster on his rightside. Problem was it was a custom made holster his father had done back in the 80's and the lacing was wide.
  13. Haven't been very active on here for a few years but still making stuff. Recently made this for a buddy of mine that wanted a right hand cross draw for his gunslinger rig. Pretty happy with how it turned out.
  14. Awesome! Literally watched this episode and the avenger 1911 a few days ago.
  15. Hi, Im trying to see if anyone has the tooling template or knows where I can get it for the hat band on Clint Eastwoods hat from The Good, the bad and the ugly? Would be very grateful if someone could point me in the right direction. Problem is most of the photos I've found on the internet are difficult to really see what's going on. I can get the general gist of the design but I wanted to see if I could get it exactly somewhere before I just "wing it." Thanks either way in advance. C.
  16. thank you very much yinTx for whatever reason its the design she always had her eye on. She will be getting it tomorrow. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YA'LL!
  17. the tandy tooling pattern that came with it was so plain i couldnt do it like that. plus its for my mom so i had to really jazz it up a bit for her. Cant have her walking around with it looking pain, shes a high class gal, had to do some high class work on it for her. Ya the cut out in the back was originally for concealed carry pistol but she upgraded so i was stuck with a hole lol, had to come up with something. The bag isnt that big so i didnt do pockets and also the original plan was for the pistol pocket so there would really have not been much room. ah well, it worked out
  18. yeah its lined with a coffee pig skin suede. kit didnt come with any of that hardware, the hardware that came in the kit was very basic and bland so i had to change it up. The sewing was murder. thank you, and no prob. I had this thing for so long and been so afraid of doing it for fear of messing it up, i had over the last several months gotten comfortable enough with this size and complexity of a project to see it thru. I still consider myself a novice/beginner to the fact that i have very little time to work on anything. I do however lurk and look at picks on here and pinterest and a facebook group i joined to get ideas for stuff id like to try. This is a Christmas present for my mother she is FINALLY going to get lol.
  19. Don't mean to really revive a really old thread but I finally got enough time and confidence to finish this project. Been a really long time in the making but I'm glad i took my time and planned it out vs throw it together.
  20. Both made from an old circular saw blade. why make one when i could have 2. Both work very well.
  21. anyone had the issue of super sheen removing black stain? ive never had it happen before and i have no idea why its happening
  22. that looks freaking amazing. Well done!
  23. thx for the replies. Yeah the holster was made separate and was the first holster and second project i had ever done, so it was still a bit of a learning curve. I actually hate the basket weave on there, and have since been thinking of making another one without it. The bullet loops were riveted on the ends, everything else on the entire belt was sewn, and i can tell you i am in no way a fan of hand stitching after doing that belt. I went with the shiny buckle/conchos vs dark ones because the belt was dark. i looked at it like i do cars. dark paint= add a little chrome, light paint = black everything else out and I like the way a little bit of shiny breaks things up a little bit.
  24. Thank you sir. Yeah, he was pretty excited about it lol. Like watching a kid at Christmas.
